Who knew going to Spain undetected was so hard? I had to change my car and my clothes so I could blend in a little. The AC in this car is broken making me feel like I'm in a damn furnace. I'm all sweaty and have been listening to Cray screaming for hours.
Using a plane is risky and I can't use my phone. I'll have to get a new one. The hotel the others are at is close, hopefully, it has an AC. My team was already notified of the mission prior to me knowing therefore they arrived here before me.
I stop the car in front of the hotel and glance at the animals in the back. "We have arrived"
I get out of the car and look at my surroundings. The tall buildings surround me. People walk down the streets and the sound of cars and chatter surrounds the place.
I run my sweaty hands down my pants and sigh. I have beige baggy jeans on with a black belt and a short black tank top paired with some boots. It's not really my style but at least I blend in a little.
I go to the trunk grab my bag and walk inside the hotel. I'll get the animals later.
I check in and grab the keys to the room before opening the door. The second I open the door I see Mini and Conner dancing to music while Zuri makes coffee. Max sits on the couch on his laptop.
They all notice me.
"Look who's finally here I was beginning to think you got lost" Zuri jokes. Zuri has deep brown skin, long curly hair, and hazel eyes. She is gorgeous and she knows it. She is confident and always makes the missions we go on fun. It was her and me on missions before I met Max and before Mini and Conner joined.
"I was beginning to think the same," I say calmly before dropping my bags and giving her a small hug.
"Katherine, does this mean this is your 100th mission?" Mini asks. She is Asian and has short hair and brown eyes. She and Conner had been best friends for years before they joined us a year ago.
"Yes, but it's gonna be a long one" I reply as I walk toward the living room with Zuri.
Max puts his laptop to the side and kisses my cheek. "I'm proud of you," He says. Max has soft features, green eyes, and brown hair. I've always thought he was handsome.
I smile at him "Same"
He smiles slightly and grabs my hand.
"Have you guys started gathering info on Shadow?" I ask.
"Max has been gathering info on him for 1 year," Conner says. Conner has brown hair except for a few streaks of dark blue that Mini dyed, he has brown eyes and glasses.
I frown and look at Max. "I heard of him and started looking into him but he was almost untraceable," Max says.
"How come you never mentioned this?" I ask
"I didn't think you had to know" He replies.
"Did you find anything?" Zuri asks.
"I think I may have a lead of where he could possibly be tonight. It's an underground club." Max says.
"What is the club about?" I ask
"Rich men gather in the club to waste their money on drugs, games, and women. The usual." Zuri comments.
I think over this information for a moment and think of a plan.
"Conner you will stay in the van and hack into the surveillance footage. You will be our eyes, watch out for any sign of Shadow. Mini will be with you so she can back you up if anything goes wrong" Mini and Conner nod at me. "Max you will have to pose as a rich man who visited Spain and is trying to enjoy himself at clubs. I'm guessing the men there come there a lot. You will stick out because you are a new face so play it well. Conner will get you inside with his face scanners. Make conversations, get them drunk, and get them to talk" Max stays silent at my words.
"Zuri and I will pose as waitresses. Clubs like these always have women as eye candy serving drinks. This will give us the perfect chance to listen in."
Zuri smiles and says "I'm so in"
"Good, let's get ready. We have a few hours before it gets dark" I say. "Oh and Conner and Max could you guys get my pets from the car?"
"Aw, you brought the pets," Mini says.
"Cool I wanna talk with Cray," Conner says.
"Those things are horrible" Max comments.
"6 months with them won't be too bad," Zuri says.

I put all my things on my bed. I don't have time to pack. I placed some water and food in the pet's cages. I don't feel good letting them out. This is a new environment, they aren't used to it. I'll let them out once I come back and I can supervise them.
Conner and Mini are setting up the van and Zuri went out to get us our disguises.
I hear a knock on the door "Come in"
Max walks in and smiles at me faintly. "It must feel so new for you to be in charge like this," He says.
"What do you mean?" I frown
"The way you were just commanding us," Max says his tone sounding calm but his demeanor is tense.
"Because I said the plan? I always say the plan" I say calmly.
"We always say the plan. Have you forgotten we are in this together" Max says his brows furrowing.
"Max you are overreacting over such a little thing," I say starting to get annoyed.
"It's not a little thing Katherine, Is this how it's gonna be when you get this mission done? Are you gonna boss us around? Boss me around?" He says clenching his fists.
"And what if I am? You guys have known about the 100 missions and about me being in charge one day. The others don't seem to care and are supportive." I say my eyes dimming slightly.
"We've only known Conner and Mini for a year of course they don't care and Zuri is gonna be your right hand so of course she is supporting you," Max says his face scrunching in annoyance.
"Is that what this is about? You are scared of me bossing you around? Does it damage your ego? Max, I haven't taken a life because I respect your belief in not taking lives. The least you could do is respect me in taking over the legacy I have admired since I was a little girl. So get your head out of your ass and man up because in an hour we are going to be on a mission and you already have messed up my headspace so leave. Now" I say sternly.
Max scoffs in disbelief and stomps out of the room slamming the door behind him.
What has gotten into him? We have never argued like this. He is always respectful and has never said anything negative to me like this before. He was always... perfect.
Could it be Max has always been like this all along?
