The rush of the robbery scene made me giddy with excitement. It'd only been at most half an hour since I'd arrived, being introduced to the personnel, everyone important that was working the site which mostly consisted of the detectives and technical team. We'd just done our rounds around the yard before paying a visit to the security room to check on the surveillance footage.
A shiver racked my body as I watched the two men break into the house. The thought of what they wanted nagging me as they disregarded everything valuable downstairs. What if they'd found Imaan before I had? We both would've been completely defenseless against those men last night.
I sipped the coffee from my cup, it being the only thing keeping me alive seeing as it was eleven o'clock and it was already morning when I'd fallen asleep. It was truly a miracle that I'd actually gotten out of bed and gotten dressed.
The sound of the door opening diverted my attention from the computer screen. Confusion overtaking me when I saw Safa walk into the room like she owned the place. She looked nice, dressed in a pair of black jeans with a white blouse, her long, blonde hair in a half-up half-down hairstyle.
The blonde caught my eye. "Ariah." She started, brown eyes taking me in. "I know my cousin's a lot to handle but you look like shit." A snort left me at her comment.
"Gee thanks." I said sending a sarcastic smile while flipping her off. "What are you doing here anyways?"
"I run the technical team." She said sitting down in an empty chair.
"I would have never guessed." She let out a small chuckle at that.
"Yeah, that means that you'll be seeing a lot more of me." Safa informed before stealing my coffee, I grimaced at the action. I hated when people took my things. The look on her face made up for it though. "Why is your coffee so sweet?"
"Why are you drinking my coffee?" I asked in a condescending tone.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." She commented and before I could respond, struck up a conversation with one of the detectives sitting next to me.
I rolled my eyes at her before going back to the screen. Watching the men on the video recording and how they scrambled around the area like they didn't know where to look. If they were looking for Imaan and I, they would've immediately searched upstairs but who would be dumb enough to set off the alarm of two mafia heirs and still run around like a headless chicken?
If Imaan hadn't needed me, I could've easily taken them out.
I continued watching, taking note of exactly when Ayzal and Ebrahim entered the house. Ayzal effortlessly shooting the first, Ebrahim taking the second in the kitchen and one of the squad members taking down the third. All without a fight. Yeah, something definitely wasn't right.
Not one bullet was fired from their side either. I got out of my seat suddenly. "Tyler." I called immediately gaining the attention of the room. The detective approached me.
"Did you find anything?" She asked fiddling with one of her braids.
"Not on surveillance." I dismissed and at that she stood up straight. Her eyes now alert as she motioned to the door.
"They didn't shoot." I explained to her once we were in the open. My heels clicking rhythmically against the gravel driveway.
She bit on her thumb. "It must've been a ploy then." I nodded.
"They were either here to ruffle our feathers or they were simply dumb as fuck." She lets out a laugh at my words before her distracted brown eyes look around thoughtfully.
