*Ring Ring Ring*

My alarm clock blares. 'god I feel like shit' I think to myself, i recall the night before, i wanted to 'end simmer break with a bang' so I drank alone all night...

And now it's coming back to kick me in the ass, I drag my body out of bed feeling like yesterday's festivities were adding an extra hundred pounds to my body. I crawl my way to the kitchen and grab a bottle of Pedialyte out of the fridge. I mentally pat myself on the back for thinking to buy it in advance. I grab the bottle Tylenol off the counter. And if I wasn't already doomed for liver disease I make sure to pop 4 Tylenol to further seal my fate.

Since I moved to woodsburo I have repeatedly heard about this same murder that happened about a year ago. it's a heavy contrast to San Francisco where you would hear about a murder on the news, usually random violence or mugging gone wrong, and after a couple weeks it's over shadowed by another act of random violence. but this is a small town so that's to be expected. Since I haven't been here for too long, only 4 or 5 months, I haven't gotten the chance to meet anyone, thus the drinking alone.

I decided it's about time I get ready to go out and do something considering this is my last day of break. I figured the white beater I wore to bed wasn't worth changing since I didn't have the energy, but I did at least bother to put on some slim fit jeans and tossed a leather jacket on. Lastly I put on my shoes. converse, because I'm so original.

I search my room for my walkman. Once I find it I see the corner of a cassette tape, just from the rusty brown color I can tell that it's the exact one I was about to look for. The downward spiral. I pop it into my walkman. After finding my wallet and cigarettes I shove them into my pocket and walk out the door.

....

After walking around for a good hour or two I start to realize how small this town actually is. I ran out of things to see pretty quickly witch really sucks cause this was all I had planned for the day, at least my headache had eased up a bit.

"Hey, you we've gotta ask you something"

I turn around on instinct, taking out one of my earbuds. "Yeah, you" the boy says looking in my direction, he's in a group of five, two chicks, three guys. They were sitting at a picnic table, the guy who called to me was sitting on the table itself, his feet planted on the seat and leaning back using his arms for support. As I'm walking over he asks the question "do you like scary movies?" He leans forward as if anticipating my answer, moving his arms in front of him so that they were draped over his knees.

"Yeah I've watched my fair share of scary movies" I answer. "Good cause this fucknut is saying that Jason could beat Freddie, what do you think?" He points to the guy next to him while saying the first part of his sentence. The guy next to him is tall and lanky, he's got short hair and piercing blue eyes. "Honestly, I think I'd be a draw, they're both pretty much unkillable" I answer honestly. The guy who called to me looks a bit disappointed, like he wanted I different answer. "I mean you make a good point but if you had to pick one, who would it be" he says, still hoping to get the answer he wants. I fold and tell him what I'm assuming he wants to hear " Freddie would probably have an advantage scice Jason wouldn't really have a reason to kill him cause Freddie could just leave camp Crystal lake and Jason probably wouldn't bother to chase him down".

He grins at my response "told you asshole!" The lankier man stands up to leave. "Whatever billy it's a stupid question anyway" as he walks away one of the girls chased after him, "stu wait for me" she yelled out to him, which he stopped and let her catch up before they walked off. "Wait Tatum, your my ride home!" The second girl followed jogging after the two that had left. Only two of the guys remainded. The one who called out to me smiled a bit "yeah that was stu, Tatum and Sidney, this is randy" he pointed behind him at the dude sitting there. "Well you told me their names, what about yours?" "You first" he teased, keeping a straight face.

I told him my name and held out my hand for him to shake, he stands up and grabs hold of my hand firmly. The skin of his palms somewhat rough "I'm billy" he said finally answering my question. Now that we were closer I could start to notice his features, he had long dirty blonde hair that was a bit greasy, usually not super attractive but it suited him well.

"So are you new here?" He asks getting back up on the table, I decide to sit next to him keeping a slight distance between us. "Somewhat, got here a few months ago" he nodded "you go to woodsburo high?" All the questions he was asking started to stress me out so I reach in my pocket for my cigarettes. "Yeah I've been going since I got here" he tilted his head "weird, i haven't seen you in the halls at all" i finally manage to wiggle my cigarettes out of my tight jean pockets only to realize I don't have a lighter. I felt like punching myself in the face.

"You gotta lite?" I asked him, he didn't answer, just got a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and pulled a lighter out of the pack. I put the cig in my mouth, he held the lighter up to it and struck it 3 times before it finally lit then he turned to the guy behind him and waved one of his cigarettes at him "want one?" He asked "yeah sure" randy put the cigarette in his mouth and billy sparked it up for him, this time taking 6 attempts. He then attempted to do the same for himself but the lighter finally gave out "could you help me out?" He asked, I nodded, he put the cigarette in his mouth and began to close the distance I had put between us. he held his cigarette to my lit one, our faces only inchs apart for a good couple seconds before his finally lit and he backed away.

He took a slow drag off his and began to talk again "you seem chill I hope I get to know you better" he says with a soft smile.
