"Isn't it just so pretty to think?" I ask Charles.

Where in my summer house, summer break, and things couldn't be better. He won Austria, which I pretended to make me annoyed, but in reality, I was really happy, and we're managing to keep this thing low-key.

"Think about what, Max?" He asks, being touchy with my hand. We're cuddling right now on the couch, and I have this little feeling that he's almost falling asleep.

"All along there was some invisible string, tying you to me." I tell, and he laughs.

"Quoting Taylor Swift now, aren't we?" I laugh with him. "I can't believe you started listening to Taylor only because she's my favourite singer."

"You like her, I like her." I say, kissing his mouth.

Some minutes pass by, and he's still playing with my hand.

"Max?" He calls my name. "We need to talk." He says, scaring me a tiny bit.

"Go on." I tell, and he gets away from me. Can't deny that it feels wrong not having him on my arms.

"I think Mattia is starting to notice us." He says, but I can tell that he's not over, so I don't say a single thing. "We need to take precautions."

"Charles, don’t worry about it now." I say, and he rolls his eyes. "It's summer. We shouldn't have to think about those kinds of things, my love." He gets back to my lap, and I kiss his head. "Do you want to go to the beach?"

"Maybe tomorrow?" He says, turning himself to me and laying his head down on my chest. "I'm feeling sleepy."

A few minutes later, I have a sleeping Charles snoring in my chest, and to be brutally honest, I've never been happier. But now that I stop to think, our vocation is almost over, and we'll have to be a secret again.
