SURPRISES are a pain in the ass, a knock on the door startles me, I drop the ring box to the floor and everything shatters around. I quickly get down to pick them, the door opens and I look up at Dad. "What are you doing?" He asks narrowing his eyes.

I move some hairs behind my ear, "Sorry, I dropped the box." I put everything back in the box.

"Don't stall time Scarlett, let's go." He says, I put the box aside and quickly stand. He holds out his arm, I take it as we walk out.

"Where are we going?" I ask as we descend down the stairs.

"You'll know." His respond is short, I don't poke around much and go with it. I was pretty shocked last night when he suddenly said he wanted to take me out for dinner. He never does that, it's like the sun rose from the west yesterday.

I get in the black SUV, there are two big men in the front. The ride is silent, "Did you open the envelope?" He asks, my throat goes dry.

"Y-yeah." I lie, he glances my way surely suspicious. We stop outside the five star restaurant we visit on special days like anniversaries and birthdays.

Dad takes my hand as we walk in, the manager takes us to the private table on the eighth floor. "You should go." Dad says as the elevator door opens, I look outside the elevator not sure what he meant.

"What about you?" I ask as panick raises in my chest.

"I have a meeting downstairs." He looks at his watch waiting for me to get off the elevator.

"Papá -"

"Go Scarlett." His voice is deep and commanding, I clutch my bag tightly as I step out of the elevator. "Be nice." He says before the door closes.

What is happening? I don't have a good feeling about this, a waitress walks to me.

"This way Miss. Scarlett." She say, I follow her to the table, she pulls out a chair for me and I sit. The view is spectacular but that's the last thing on my mind.

"Would you like to have something?" She asks.

"Wine, I'd like some wine." I'm a light weight but I don't care, getting drunk and passing out seems like a way better option than waiting for something unknown.

She brings me wine, I hold the glass as she pours the wine. Our heads spin to the approaching footsteps, my heart sinks into my stomach as a tall man walks towards us. I feel a sense a deja vu, he's wearing black turtleneck shirt and black pants with a long black coat.

His eyes meet mine, they are pitch black like the night sky. So dark it's scary. He lifts his arm, the glass slips from my hand shattering on the ground, I quickly get up looking at the damage I caused.

"I'm sorry." I say, the waitress nods and goes to get a cleaner.

"Scarlett Cotroni." His voice is so deep I feel chills, I wet my throat gathering the courage to look at him again. "I hope you know me."

No, I don't know you. But my sixth sense does, who else could he be? Dad won't leave me alone with just any man. This has to be him. Hayden death Wraith.

I slowly lift my eyes to his, the way he's watching makes me feel so small and weak. "Hayden." The way I sound is an embarrassment to my family name, I clear my throat and try again. "Hayden?" I say louder, he nods then looks outside the window.

The cleaner comes to get the shattered glass, I move aside and end up knocking into Mr. Death's chest. His big hand comes on my back making a shiver run down my spine, his eyes move on my neck. Something flicks in his eyes as he grabs my chin and tips my head up, blood rushes south as his eyes move to my face then somewhere on my lower chin.
