Park Tae Sung was admitted to the hospital close to the university.
The hospital crew had rushed him towards the Operation Theatre while I sat in the waiting room for three hours. Only when the doctors told me that the surgery went well and he was out of danger, I was able to return to my hostel. After 24 hours in the ICU, he was moved to the regular ward and kept under observation. And here I was today heading towards his room with his meds and documents in hand that he told me to bring.
Proceeding in the hallway, I stopped just a few steps away from his room. Frozen cold. Because I just saw something that I shouldn't have seen. The person coming out of Tae Sung's room with a bunch of people in black suits.
Tae Sung's father.
SUMMER VACTION OF 2022...
Classes had been stopped with the intention of giving students the opportunity to do internships. Everyone lazily strolling around the campus had been a regular sight cause of the boredom of staying in our rooms all day. Therapy Ground was always full with people enjoying the sunshine and company of their friends.
Also, we had been preparing for the seminar of the most famous and our country's no. 1 business tycoon, Park Yun Seo. So work was a handful.
I was responsible for handling the auditorium. I opened the door and walked inside it, avoiding the blazing sun when I heard some noises. Well, not noises. It was people. Talking.
As I drew near, the focal of my eye caught the person. Park Tae Sung. What was he doing here? And then there was another person. Park Yun Seo.
Hiding behind a closet, I overheard them.
"Really?" Tae Sung mocked the tycoon, "Are you that much afraid? That people will know who I am?"
Park Yun Seo laughed, "Do you think I am scared of your miniature level threat? If you want to live with dignity, live a low life here. Do not ever think of stepping off your boundary."
"Why? Because people must not find out? That I am your son?" Tae Sung clenched his teeth.
"WHAAATTTT THEEEE-------" I slapped my mouth shut before I scream my lungs out. My hands came on my mouth. So, this was it. The taste of the hell Tae Sung had been hiding in. The burden of being the child of a person who don't acknowledge you. Because you were just a small mistake for that person.
Park Yun Seo had been living with his own family for about 20 years. No one would have ever imagined him to be having a child out of wedlock. The information I just discovered can turn the whole world upside down while ripping and tossing the industrial society by giving media a huge fish to feed on.
Park Yun Seo snapped me back to reality, "Why did you think I let you be when you got into a top-level university? So that you can leech off from my life and live your own."
His ferocious stare approaching Tae Sung scared me, "I let you be as long as you promised to not cause trouble and bring chaos and confusion."
"So you are not afraid of letting the cat out of the bag." Tae Sung pocketed his hands in his trench coat, "But you are scared because you think I will do whatever necessary to claim what's mine."
Park Yun Seo had a good laugh, "Do you really have the guts?"
Tae sung flinched as he neared him, "If you really had it in you, you should have gone to a A level university directly under my control for which you had more than enough skills. But you, deliberately chose a B one."
He pats his son's shoulder with his vicious smile, "I am disappointed son."
Tae Sung was shivering like he was suffering from a bad fever. Sweat and tension claimed his face. As he watched his father's back as the tycoon leaves, he lowered his head leans on his knee for support as he kept taking heavy breaths.
The secret that I wanted to reveal and ended up on his palm as a consequence. The secret that leaves him so fragile that could ruin and destroy him at any moment.
Thinking back to the present, their interaction didn't have a sweet endeavor and it won't now either. I made way as the respected man of the society left along with his bodyguards and secretaries. Maybe he at least made the effort to check if his son was alive or dead. Sighing, I went inside the ward.
I found Tae Sung standing in front of the window in his hospital robes, his eyes distant with no strength left on his body. Just like their previous meet. Well, I expected that much.
I placed the meds and documents on the table, "Why are you standing? You shouldn't be standing so early." He didn't say anything. So, I called him once more, "Park Tae Sung".
He turned towards me when I noticed his condition as worse as ever. His skin pale and dry, his lips cracked, his disheveled hair, the fear and worry in his eyes and his index nail bleeding due to his continuous picking on it.
I met his eyes, "Are you okay?"
He approached me with slow and heavy steps. As the weakness of his body crippled him, he threw his head over my shoulder turning my equilibrium state of mind with a blow of severe disbalance and trauma. My hands reached out to hold him, followed by quickly withdrawing them after balance has been established. My insides shrieked and squeaked in an attempt to keep me from running away.
"5 mins. No more. Let me be for 5 mins." He asked desperately.
I pulled out my voice, "You sure you are ok-okay? Don't I need to call the doc-doctor?"
"Hmm. I am okay now." He murmured on my shoulder.
The sensation of his warm exhales and lips on my neck sent a shiver down my spine. As he brushed his blistering lips off my neck, my heart and mind were consumed by fire. The fire whose heat I liked so much that kept pulling me in, only to end me up with scars and burns. I tried so hard to keep my mind straight, but in vain. His fluffy hair tickled my torso and as he kept luring me more and more for his comfort and peace, I walked towards turmoil and chaos.
I closed my eyes to snap out of the dreamy stir I was feeling on my chest but it only became overwhelmed with passion. And then guilt came to screw me. I shouldn't be feeling this way for the guy who had threatened to ruin my life six months ago, the guy who used me as a pawn in his game.
I should come back to my freaking senses and get real work done. I had a lot to do, to prove myself to unworthy people and render their dirty jobs useless. I had no time to feel. Or breathe.
Not even when its Park Tae Sung.
Three days later I visited him again. He was sitting on his bed, his eyes still empty. The stitch and pain in his abdomen looked better. I sat on the stool beside his bed, "When will you be discharged?"
"Tomorrow" he says without looking at me.
I crooked my eyebrows, "Isn't that early? The area didn't even heal altogether."
He smiled, "Why? Did you want me to end up with a more serious injury so that I can stay in this bed forever and you become free?"
I let out a sarcastic exhale and looked away.
From that day I have been lying to myself about the fact that I didn't want to admit. Because people's mouth had the power to turn truth into lies. The truth that I didn't wanna reveal to myself as much as he trying to hide his secret.
The truth that I would take to my grave.
The fact that his lips didn't touch my neck that day.
But my soul.
