She bit her lip as the two bickering in front of her stopped at a door. She looked at the sign and found comfort in the familiar sign. Room 3-A, where Yuki taught her to dance with her heart.
"Alright, now before we go in I'm just going to let you know our boss is a bit...." The blonde man trailed off as Ayako raised an eyebrow. When he huffed and moved to open the door she nodded.
"Exactly. There is no words to describe that brat." Mai giggled as their bickering calmed her, and then followed the two into the room. Her steps faltered as she looked around at their 'base.' The place didn't look like a studio anymore.
The floor was covered in a rug and there were two large tables, some couches and chairs surrounding it. The mirrors that had covered an entire two walls, were now covered with monitors that showed pictures of different places around the school. A blush donned the girls cheeks as she saw the room she had fallen asleep in right in front of a man. The man looked tall even while sitting down, his hair shaggy and the blackest she had ever seen! As Ayako directed her to the couch, the man stood up and grabbed a small laptop, heading for the other couch that had been brought in.
"So, why exactly am I here?" Mai's nerves took control over her mouth.
"You saw something. You were also in line earlier but left due to the length." Another voice grabbed her attention and she turned to look at the owner. He was taller than her by about s head and s half with dark black hair and stormy blue eyes. His lips were pulled up into a semblance of a smile and he was decked out in black.
It was his eyes that drew her attention though.
As she stared into the depths of the storm grey, she began to feel uneasy. A sense of pain and dread filled her as those emotionless eyes bore into her own chocolate eyes.
She wouldn't trust this man.
"And?" She spoke after realizing that she had been staring. Her hands came together to rest on her lap and the face she gave to the crowd when she was dancing appeared on her face. She was thankful for this mask. When she was little Mama had said she was an open book; The world today tore open books apart.
"What did you see? It could be of great help to the case. I know for a fact that you were close with one of the victims. Yuki-San I believe her name was." Another glance into his eyes. Would she trust him? The look in his eyes told her no...but the feeling in her gut kept screaming yes.
"I was practicing my dance routine yesterday with my partner, Yoshin Akuma, when he suddenly dropped me. He had done this before but never in this part, all he had to do was hold my weight as I fell backwards. When I asked why he dropped me-" it was here that Mai cut herself off, biting her lip and looking down at her feet.
"When you asked why he dropped you...." The man repeated her words, trailing off as he searched for an answer.
"He said he saw Yuki." She looked up to meet his eyes.
"Yuki taught me how to dance. In fact she taught me in this very room. When she died I couldn't dance for weeks I was so depressed. I probably won't be able to dance for the next couple of days after that dream I had either." The click-clack of the keyboard stopped as they occupants of the room stared at her.
Might as well continue now.
"I didn't know I had fallen asleep while I was laying there. One minute I was staring at the ceiling and then next I was surrounded by darkness, floating white lights the only thing I could see." She took a deep breath for the next part.
"And then she spoke to me. Yuki that is. 'You sound upset.' 'Mai-chan please.' 'Help.' And then I woke up to Ayako and Monk." Looking around she noticed that everyone was staring at her. She gulped and blinked before standing and giving a bow.
"If that's all I'll be going now." Quickly grabbing her bag she made for the open door.
It was as she reached the door that the lights went out.
"Mai...."
"Help Us...." The brown haired girl froze where she was at, hand outstretched.
"What is it?" Atako asked the strange girl. The lights flickered before going out.
"Mai!" The girl whimpered, backing away quickly as the door slammed closed.
"HELP US!!!"
