The boat group returns to the mainland, and everyone asks what happened since the phone call was cut. They explain that the phone call was cut off by a mysterious Why-Man. This gets people scared and curious of who this mysterious Why-Man is.
Could it be another group of survivors or maybe a ship lost at sea trying to request a rescue. But it was just confusing, so they had to get to the bottom of this. So the six of them who were on the boat were gonna try to talk about it in the newly built Kingdom of Science War room.
"Worrying is not gonna solve anything," Taiju stated. "So let's leave it to the thinkers. There's still plenty of work to be done. So let's get to it."
"Yes, I couldn't agree with you more, Taiju," Francois said.
"Too many cooks spoil the broth as they say," Kohaku said as she nodded her head in agreement. "We should leave the strategizing to the people in the war room. They heard the message first hand after all. Plus, they're the six sharpest minds in the Kingdom of Science. Our captain and generals. Well, I'm not sure about Chrome. He's smart but a little too goofy for the title, in my opinion."
"I am not goofy," Chrome exclaimed, annoyed as he popped out, holding onto the doorframe while keeping his body perfectly parallel to the floor.
"You're proving my point right," Kohaku pointed out.
"Chrome, get back in here so we can get this started," y/n said as she pulled him back into the room.
Kohaku sighed as the others went back to work as the five generals and captains gathered around the table looking at a map. To make sure everyone is on the same page, Ukyo summarizes the things that happened until now. How humanity has been petrified, and it took 3700 years for the first person to break free from the petrifaction.
"So we're thinking our Why-Man is behind everything then," Ryusui said.
"I guess that man is as suitable as any," Ukyo said.
"Well, there's no way he'd still be alive after 3700 years. That is unless he petrified himself along with us," Ryusui stated.
"Everyone slow down a sec," Chrome blurted out. "I admit, I got freaked out before, too. But how can we be sure Why-Man is an enemy? There's a chance he'll turn out to be an ally."
"You're absolutely right, Chrome," y/n stated. "There is a chance that Why-Man can turn out to be an ally. Why-Man can even turn out to be nor ally or foe."
"Exactly, it's better to be safe than sorry in this kind of situation," Senku said.
"You do have a point y/n-chan, but that message didn't seem partially friendly," Gen said. "Not to mention he didn't seem very neighborly since he completely ignored Senku's provocation. The endless onslaught of why's ended, and he's been slight ever since."
Ukyo finds the situation scary as an unidentified, unseen enemy can come from anywhere. Senku then gets an idea and states they will see the unseen with the eyes of science. They headed outside, and there was a conical flask. Kohaku picks it up and looks through it like a telescope. She asked if they were gonna use the flask to find the enemy, but Gen said that can't be it. However, Senku states that's exactly what they are gonna be doing, and Kohaku is shocked that she was actually right.
Senku takes some of Chrome's sphalerite he collected and asks the muscle group to bash them into powder. Then, in a conical flask, he then adds some water to dissolve it, creating a fluorescent paint. Kaseki guesses that they will be turning the flask in a giant vacuum tube.
"Despite your explanation, I still have no idea what this is," Ryusui admitted.
"That's okay. I bet it will make more sense when we turn it on," Suika said as she went to press the button.
