~Mattheo Riddle~

It was breakfast time. I was in the hallway eating and talking to Draco about Quidditch. When we finished talking about this topic it was suddenly silent and neither of us had something to say.

"So..." I knew what it meant when Draco started a sentence with something like this. And I hated it.

"You know how I'm leaving in three weeks right..." Yes. Of course. He had to ruin my mood.

"Yes, for death eater stuff because your dad is forcing you to train harder and you will leave for a year. I know Draco, we talked about this multiple times. Please let's not talk about it now and let's enjoy these 3 weeks" I managed to form a small smile on my face when saying this. I hated that he was leaving, Draco is my best friend, and also the closest thing I have to a brother. We were eight when we met, our parents- My dad, had business with his father. And since that day, me and Draco became really close.

"Yeah, you're right." I'll miss him a lot when he's gonna leave, but I don't have to show it of course. Draco knows I will miss him, and that's all that matters. I wasn't an emotional kinda guy. Even if it hurts, I won't really show it.

"By the way, I'm planning on doing a farewell party at my manor." He said turning back to me smiling. Draco's party were fire, but I hated going to parties because every time I do, it's just some random girls coming up to me every 5 minutes asking me to go upstairs or if they could blow me. And I hated it, I only fucked some women and none of them were even close of it.

"You coming?" Obviously idiot.

"Yeah." I said looking back at him with a kinda forced smile. After that, I got up and made my way to the library. As I stood up, Draco told me to tell his sister about the party too if I ever see her.

I knew that Anna loved reading, and most of the students in her grade had a free period now, so I would probably spot her in the library.

I made my way to the library and no signs of her. I just made my way to grab a book when I saw her, struggling to take one. I rolled my eyes, I was no gentleman, but I decided to help her.

I came behind her, she didn't see me, I took the book and gave it to her.

"Here you go." I said with a blank face, she thanked me and I was about to leave this book alley when I remembered I had to tell her about Draco's party.

"Hey, Anna." I said blankly but tried to seem casual.
She just hummed in response turning around.

"Draco's throwing a party in two weeks on friday, and he wanted me to tell you."

"Oh okay, thanks for telling me." She said with the same bright smile, sometimes I wonder if it's forced or genuine. She was such a kind and positive soul, it feels like she's never been out in the real world. She has a perfect life with perfect friends. Could never be me.

I just hummed and walked away. Didn't really wanna stay here for more than a second.

After this I just went back to my dorm with a book in my hands, I loved this book series, it was called The Witch and it was about a muggle falling in love with a witch. I came back into my dorm and I didn't find Draco there, he was probably at another's girls dorm or something. I rolled my eyes at the thought and laid on my bed and read my book.

I only had a few pages left, so I finished it quickly and I made my way to the library to put it back and check out for another book.

When I opened the door I jumped a bit. I saw an angry Anna, looking at me up and down. I gave her a confused look and she snapped at me.

"Where the fuck is Draco?" She looked angry, really angry, she was always so nice and optimist and she was rarely mad, so it was quite shocking.

I looked at her, confused, wondering what made her that mad. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.

"Ugh, just tell me is he in here?" She let out a loud annoyed sight. I glared at her. I hated when people gave me attitude.

"No. Go search somewhere else." I said, as coldly as possible. She needed to understand who she was talking to. She was never really scared of me, even though I was the dark lord's son.

She opened her mouth, about to say something, she hesitated then just turned around aggressively, making her hair hit my face, I let out a small "ouch" to that and she left.

I rolled my eyes and as I was about to go back into my room, I remembered about my book and made my way to the library.

On my way there, I heard two faint voices, a girl and a boy, they sounded like they were arguing, I couldn't tell who's voice that was, or what they were saying but as I got closer I realised that the voices were Draco's and Anna's. I hated eavesdropping, but I knew this has to do with the fact that Anna was mad and I got really curious.

As I heard them talk, I couldn't understand what they were saying but I could make up some words

"Why didn't you tell me!" I heard Anna said, she sounded like she was crying.

"To protect you!" What were they talking about?

"From what? Why would you hide how you're going to be a death eater protect me?!" She was being really loud now.

"Shh! First of all, we're in a library, people could hear us! And second of all, I didn't have a choice! Dad didn't want me to tell you and I couldn't do anything about it..." He was yelling at first but his voice soon turned into a whisper at the end. I knew Draco was really sad because of this, but Draco had this YOLO mindset that didn't let him take anything over his happiness.

I realised I was able to see them if I peeked through a small hole in the old wall.

I peeked through it and saw Anna crying and Draco looking down at her. She ran into his arms and hugged him really tightly, they never really got along, they had this 'love-hate' relationship, they always acted like they hated each other but they really cared about each other in reality.

I could tell Draco wanted to burst out crying and let it all out, but no matter how many times I've told him that it's okay to cry sometimes, he would never let it out. I rarely saw him cry. I think the last time I did was when we were 9 and he tripped and fell and cried in his mom's arms.

I realised how wrong what I was doing was so I just made my way to the library and sat on one of the chairs and started reading a new book.

As I was reading my book, I saw from the corner of my eye Anna coming, and sitting down in one of the chairs next to me. She was reading my favorite book.

"Oh since when do you-" I was going to ask her about the book until we made eye contact and I saw her eyes bloodshot red.

"Wow, what happened to you?" Not the best way to ask someone why are they crying. I knew why she was crying, but she knew it was obvious that she cried a lot, and I wasn't that heartless.

"It's personal." She said, looking back at her book, coldly.

"Okay?" I said confused and turning back to my book. I felt so uncomfortable, the air felt so thick and the tension so heavy. And her crying did something to me.

I just got up and left to go read in my room, it was way more peaceful there, and at least I had no one to disturb me.

After a while, Draco came in the room, he looked happy. I was waiting for him to get ready for the party of tonight. It was finally Friday, the day all the students were waiting for since we got back to school. It was the welcome back party. Teachers don't know about this party of course, but the Slytherins throw this party every year.

It was a party for all the houses, everyone would meet in the ball room that is supposed to be locked. But George and Fred stole the key somehow, and the teachers expect it to be locked, so they never check this place.

"Finally, come on we have to get ready, it's already 8:30 and the party starts at 9" I told Draco while getting up to go pick an outfit.

"It's fine, we have all night for this party!" He was right, but I still didn't wanna be late.
