"Should we park here and drive around town for a few? Or do y'all just wanna crash?" I asked as I pulled into the rest stop.

"I think we should drive around town." Liz said as she turned her seat to face Ana, who was half passed out on the couch. "This trip is to see new places. And if we aren't seeing new places when we stop, what good is it?"

"Okay." I shut off the motor to the large vehicle. "Ana, are you up for it?"

"Duh." She stated as she rubbed her eyes tiredly. "Just let me wake up."

I pulled my sandals back onto my feet, standing up and stretching my arms above my head.

"I'm going to unhook the car." I said, stepping out of the driver side door.

And I got to work.

*

"Indianapolis." I clicked my tongue. "Where to?"

"I want to go out for dinner." Ana said as she looked around.

"How about Applebees?" Liz offered.

"I'm all for it." I agreed, looking over at Ana as she drove through the streets of Indianapolis.

"I'll go for it." She agreed after a few seconds.

We pulled into the parking lot as we came up to it, before we each climbed out of the car.

We stepped into the restaurant, taking our seats in the far corner of the restaurant.

"Tomorrow we'll get to Philly." I said after a few minutes, having ordered our drinks and gotten bread sticks. "And we'll stay for a week or two."

"Then to Iowa." Liz added.

"And to Oklahoma." Ana finished.

"Then wherever we choose." I smiled. "I really want to head to Colorado. Maybe Oregon."

"I think Colorado would be really pretty." Liz nodded.

"Me too." Ana nodded. "I have seen a lot of pictures."

"Then Colorado is after that." I concluded just as the waiter stepped up to our table, setting our drinks down and asking for our orders.

Things seemed to be going smoothly. I just couldn't help but think something bad was going to happen.
