Author's Note:
TW: Includes themes of suicide
Hope you enjoy the story! Writing this first part was kinda wild, ngl——————————
TW: Beginning includes themes of suicide.
Skip to bolded note. The lamplights flickered on as the streets in the City of Love crowded. Couples and families make their way down the sidewalks and employees get off work, excited for the rest the weekend would bring them.
As she looked down from the highest sight in the city, her mind felt serenely blank. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is just a normal girl with a normal life. She has a normal family, normal hobbies, normal friends (does she really though?)
Yes, Marinette Dupain-Cheng really is just a normal teenage girl.
Ladybug, however, is anything but.
The Parisian super hero was tasked with saving the weighing job of looking over the city, and she intends to do so. Marinette doesn't matter. Ladybug does. All these people in Paris trust her with their protection. (Even if they shouldn't)
Yet as she looked down from above, she didn't have many thoughts on her mind (blank mind Marinette, blank mind).
Ladybug's mind begins to wander, and becomes full of wonders.
She wonders what her parents were doing? Baking, probably? Or sleeping. She really lost track of time.
She wonders what her friends were doing (probably together without you).
She wonders how long it would take to swing over to Andre's for ice cream (not that you deserve it). She wonders what the impact of a fall from the height of the Eiffel Tower would be.
She wonders what would happen if her foot slipped off the edge.
END OF THEMES OF SUICIDE
"Hey~ Bugaboo"
Ladybug snapped back to reality. She looks beside her to see the other half of the crime fighting duo, Chat Noir.
"Didn't think I'd see you here this fine night."
Neither did she. Although she should've expected it.
Even when it was her turn for patrol, he usually popped up somewhere along her route anyways (he doesn't trust you). Why should he, when all she could do was mess up again and again. Chat Noir truly was a saint for putting up with her. Even her friends couldn't (it's your fault really).
"-ady. Ladybug!"
Shit. She'd dazed off again.
"Sorry Kitty"
With a raise of an eyebrow, Chat Noir repeated "I was asking why you're here tonight?"
"What? It's my night for patrol"
"I think you meant to say, it's not my turn for patrol". Chat put emphasis on the last part by making a high pitched, off tone, no good, very bad impression of her voice.
She doesn't sound anything like that.
While she normally would have laughed and done an equally as bad impression of his voice back, Ladybug didn't have the energy in her to do it today.
Instead, she replied with a sigh, and Chat took that as the sign to continue.
"I'm paw-sitive, M'lady. This cat's not off his rockers", he scoffed.
Sure, she'd lost track of time, but it couldn't have been by that much, not by a whole day.
She'd messed up. Again.
