Camille's body is frozen. She felt her whole world stop while looking at her wife, Helen, in an intense make-out with a man on their bed. The flowers she was holding dropped and made a thud sound. Helen and the man look her way. Helen's eyes widen. The two couldn't move. Camille's tears start falling in her eyes, her lips are trembling, and her whole body. The man immediately got his things and left the room.Helen stoops up. "H-Honey.."
Camille started to cry. Her knees weakened, and she collapsed on the floor, sobbing horribly. She pushed Helen when she tried to hold her. She screamed and cried. Helen sat on the floor, too, while looking at her crying wife. She couldn't say anything. She couldn't touch her. The guiltless she feels is too much. The hurt, too many emotions are fighting inside her heart.
"H-How long...?" Camille asked almost in a whisper.
A teardrop in Helen's eyes, she was silenced by the question.
"How long!?" Camille shouted.
Helen flinched. This is the first time Camille has shouted like this in her entire life.
"A....month..." Helen answered, head down.
Again, Camille cried after hearing it. A month? Was she cheating for a month? Last week they had sex. Is she not enough? Is Helen not happy to be with her anymore?
She got time to leave early for their out-of-town seminar. She was a teacher in college. She was teaching music and arts. She decided to surprise her wife, but she didn't know that she would be the one who would be surprised. Their daughter Nicole is in a school camp. Are they doing it at their house while she's away? Nicole is adopted. She was 13 years old. They decided they won't have their child through pregnancy, they were both busy with their work, and needed money. They decided they would do that and find a donor after Nicole turned 15, Helen is a designer for her mother's company, and soon, she will inherit the company after her mother steps down.
"Do you love him, Helen?" Camille couldn't look at her wife anymore.
"N-No, I don't love him. You're the one I love, honey."
"Then why did you do it?! Why are you kissing that man!? Your face tells me that you like it so much!! You dare you to tell me you love me, but you were cheating for a month??!! H-How dare you!!!! Fuck you, Helen!!!" Camille slapped Helen. Even her knees are weak, she tried to stand and walked away.
"H-Honey, please hear me out." Helen followed her.
Camille didn't stop and grab her car keys. She runs outside their house, slams the car door, and locks it.
"Honey! Where are you going? Let's talk, please?" Helen pleaded and tried to open the door, but it was locked.
She starts the engine, still crying. She drove her car to get away from her wife.
She dialed someone's number on her phone and put it on speaker.
"Hello?" A voice on the phone, sounding sleepy and groggy.
"B-Beth..." She choked after hearing her best friend's voice.
"Cam? Are you alright?" Beth asked worriedly. Her voice changed in an alert mode.
"C-Can I stay at your place?" She asked while still crying.
"Sure, babe. I'll wait for you."
She continues to drive to go to Beth's house. It was already 2 a.m; that's why no traffic. In 10 minutes, she was outside Beth's house and parked her car.
Beth is outside at the door waiting for her. When she sees Camille getting out of her car, she runs towards her and hugs her so tight.
"What happened?" Beth looks at Camille's face, her eyes red, and her face is puffy.
Camille cried in her arms, her whole world running just for Helen before. She has loved her since the day they first met. Just why her whole world is crumbling now?
"H-Helen...she's cheating...with a man," she whispered and sobbed again.
"Oh, babe...I'm so sorry..." Beth couldn't believe what she had just heard. Helen and Camille were madly in love. She was there when their love started to bloom. She witnessed how they vowed in front of a white church.
Beth helps Camille to walk inside her house; her husband George is waiting on the couch. He had this questioning look while staring at a crying Camille. She shook her head, signing him not to ask. He nods and goes to grab water and gives it to Camille.
"Babe...drink and get sleep. Let's talk about this tomorrow, okay?" Beth said while patting Camille's back.
Camille nods, and again, they hug each other.
"Sleep with her. I'll be in our room, love. Camille, please take care of yourself." George said while giving the two ladies a warm smile.
Camille forced a smile and nodded.
"Come, let's go, babe." Beth held her hand, and they got into the available room. She gave her extra clothes to sleep with.
"It's okay. Sleep, babe..." Beth whispered while hugging her best friend. Camille is still sobbing quietly. "Sshhh...everything will be alright, don't think and just rest, babe..."
After a few minutes, Camille finally fell asleep; Beth slowly moved, trying not to wake her up. She got out of the room and dialed a number.
"Goddamn it, Helen!! Why did you do this to Cam!" Beth shouted at her phone; she was outside near their pool when the call answered.
"She was with you? Is she fine? I need to talk to her, please!"
Feeling so disappointed, Beth let out a heavy sigh. "She's broken, Helen; you broke her heart. Cheating is a crime in any relationship. Now tell me, why did you do that to her?"
Silence fell in a minute. "I-It was...it was a mistake, Beth. I don't love him. I love Camille."
"Fuck it, Helen! If you love her, you won't even think about cheating! With a man? Seriously? I thought you were soooo gay just for your wife? Now you are a whore to a man! I'll talk about it to Camille, I won't help you, but I will help Camille!" Then she pressed the end button.
Getting irritated, she stomps her foot to think if George cheats too, she will die for it. She calms herself; she needs to be composed and calm just for her best friend. She wanted to kill Helen and her man for hurting her best friend.
Beth returned to the room again; she looked at Camille's sleeping face. What is going through to her best friend hurts her; it's hard to accept that this happened to her. This will be hard for her. No matter what is Camille's decision, she will support her and be with her.
