In the core of Antarctica, a remote exploration office was clamoring with movement collectively of researchers dug into the secrets concealed underneath the ice. Dr. Elizabeth Encourage, a splendid scientist, had quite recently found an old, frozen animal not at all like anything seen previously. Its gigantic, wound structure appeared to make no sense, its body a terrible combination of natural matter and mechanical parts.

Inscriptions that pointed to the creature's extraterrestrial origin were discovered by the team as they worked to defrost it, indicating that it had crashed landed on Earth long ago. The unthinkable, however, occurred as the ice began to melt: the creature reanimated and began to exhibit signs of life. Disquiet undulated through the group as they understood they were managing an insight a long ways outside their ability to grasp.

As the base's communications failed, cutting them off from the outside world, their fear grew. The group became disengaged, caught with the baffling being that appeared to ingest and imitate the types of those it experienced. As members of the team vanished one by one and were replaced by grotesque imitators, trust diminished and fear gave way to panic.

When Dr. Foster tried to figure out what the creature was there for, he found out that it was a living weapon made to get inside civilizations and destroy them. With the office now a contorted maze of faker animals, she joined the excess survivors in a frantic bid to obliterate the substance before it could disappear to the world past the ice.

In the midst of the pressure and disarray, the group battled not exclusively to make due however to save humankind itself. The animal's flexibility demonstrated an imposing enemy, testing the constraints of their creativity. As companionships disintegrated and coalitions moved, the genuine awfulness lay in not realizing who was human and who was the animal taking on the appearance of one.

The team was faced with a terrifying decision in a terrifying climax that was reminiscent of Carpenter's classic: trust one another and cooperate, or capitulate to the tumult and neurosis that the animal flourished upon. Dr. Cultivate's assurance and logical intuition eventually prompted a showdown that would decide the destiny of humankind and the world as far as they might be concerned.
