It all began in March 2020. When the government ordered a national lockdown, restricting the movement of the entire population. It was a protective measure against the Covid-19 pandemic. Mind you, these were not times of vaccinations and clarity. These were the times of no proven treatments and confusion.
It was truly quite daunting to live for more than a year, with the constant fear of losing your loved ones. On most nights, I felt anxious, depressed and besieged by hopelessness. Those times were some of the most challenging times of my life, even if they were pretty unique too. I could not travel back to my country for more than a year as Covid-19 cases had started exploding, but on the other hand, I realized the importance of family. Being with my parents, and spending time with them, was the only thing that made me happy.
Most of all, I realized that only some people stood by my side during the crisis. I now know that they are the only ones that matter in my life.
I lost some relatives, some friends, and some friends of friends. Suddenly, the virus from the 'news' had become the virus of our 'lives'. Writing was the only thing that kept me going even during the darkest time of my life.
Life tests you, challenges you, and sometimes changes you as a person. This book is a tribute to those years of the pandemic when each one of us faced our share of difficulties and challenges. When we lost, family members, the people we loved, and even the will to survive.
"Never Again" is a salute to the human spirit of never giving up and finding hope in the darkest of times. It is proof, that love can flourish, even when everything around us seems to be falling apart.
I wrote this book as a coping mechanism. It is a work of fiction and therefore has been dramatized to some extent. But writing this book helped me heal.
I believe that it will help you heal too!
