Four Years Later
" Luna!!! Wake up you need to leave for hospital "
I stood next to Luna's bed, the soft morning light filling the room with warmth. I felt excited and determined for the day ahead. Luna, my friend and roommate, lay there, her fair skin glowing and her blue-black hair spread across the pillows.
It was an important day for both of us. I had a meeting with the publisher to discuss the success of my latest book, and Luna had her own responsibilities to attend to.
Luna blinked sleepily and rubbed her hazel eyes, trying to shake off her drowsiness. When she looked at the wall clock, her eyes widened with surprise and worry. She turned to me, asking why I hadn't woken her up earlier.
" "Oh no... I'm getting late! Why didn't you wake me up?" Luna asked, her words rushed as she quickly got out of bed, eager to make up for lost time. Her hurried movements matched the fast beating of my heart.
I smiled warmly, "I did wake you up, you silly girl," I replied, "I've been trying to wake you up for the past hour. Now, get ready quickly. Sofia is bringing breakfast."
Luna's expression changed from worry to relief, mixed with a little frustration. She nodded, understanding what had happened, and rushed off to the bathroom, grabbing her things with purpose. I watched her go.
But she pecked her head out of the bathroom looking at me with a playful smile.
" Wanna come in babe " She wink... I picked up the sleeper nearby and threw it towards her but she was fast enough to catch it." Clara, remember you have the therapy session today. Don't be late " She reminded me before entering the bathroom.
I sigh and smile looking out of the window. Even though it was the winter season, I loved it . It's been Four years since I left Austin. I have been in contact with Alan and Damon. Sometimes Han also texts me. About Alex he did not even contact me once. Because I told him not to. When I first came here , I was very angry with him. But now as times passes I understand that
Holding back our past can only hurt us more. I am planning to visit Austin again... I guess I will stay there too. After my last session I guess there's no need for me to stay here." breakfast is here " Sofia's sweet voice filled the silence as I turned around smiling towards her. Her blonde hair was covering her face as she put down the bags and cleared her face by pushing her hairs back. Her skin glows even in the dim light. Her eyes are a little brown.
" You know I had to stand in a long line just to get you these pancakes and coffee " She huffed , I smiled and walked over to her. Picking up the breakfast and smelling it.
" Woah... It's so good. " She smiled brightly but soon her smile faded as a towel landed over her head. She removes the towel with a glare as I brush out of laughter followed by Luna . But I stopped as soon as I saw Sofia heating up. I gulped and left the scene. Sofia turns around as she throws glare towards Luna who gulps as well regretting her doings.
" My dear Sofia.... Look, it was just a joke.. A joke " Luna tried to get away as Sofia nodded.
" Of course it's a joke... Now I am remembering a joke too.. Oh right.. Luna, I forgot your breakfast. sorry " Luna's eyes widened as Sofia pulled me by arm and dragged me towards the dining table.
" Clara, if you tried to give her a single piece, I would kill you with a butter knife. Got it " I quickly nodded with a salute. Luna with puppy eyes and pout wall over to Sofia who was busy.
getting the food with ethics. As her father is the biggest businessman, they made their children perfect like robots.
" Sofia.. Please I have to take care of lots of patients in the hospital please pretty please "
Sofia ignored her as I tried to muffle my laugh. Luna looked at me for help as look away, scared of Sofia.
" Fine.. I will do everything you say for a week. Just let me have one pancake and coffee " Luna said with a sigh. Sofia smirks and turns to her.
" Deal.. then, here take the piece "The room was filled with the aroma of freshly made pancakes and the sound of cheerful morning chatter. As we enjoyed our meal, I suddenly realised I had forgotten to share some important news.
"Oh, guys, I forgot to tell you," I blurted out, my voice tinged with excitement. "We have a flight to Austin on Saturday." Sofia and Luna frowned, curiosity etching their faces.
"And who is this 'we' you're referring to?" Sofia asked, raising an eyebrow. Luna echoed her question, their eyes widening in anticipation. I couldn't help but smile nervously, pointing at both of them.
"You both," I replied, my heart racing. Their mouths fell open in surprise, their eyes reflecting a mix of disbelief and astonishment. I couldn't contain my happiness and enthusiasm. "Come on, now it's good news!" I said with a wide smile.
Luna, being the practical one, expressed her concern. "But I have a job, and I need to take care of my patients," she said, her voice tinged with responsibility as she mentioned her work as a doctor.
"Well, I'm free," Sofia chimed in, digging into her pancake. I looked towards Luna, my eyes pleading with her, hoping she would reconsider. Luna let out a sigh and nodded, giving in to our excitement.
"Fine," she said with a hint of resignation. "I'll figure something out. Are you happy now?" Luna asked, her voice tinged with a mix of reluctance and affection.
"I'm so happy!" I exclaimed, unable to contain my joy. "I want both of you to come with me to Austin because you've made this journey so much easier."
With that, we continued our breakfast, laughter filling the room as we savoured our time together. After we finished eating, I had to leave for my meeting with the publisher, and Luna was running late for the hospital. Sofia, being a fashion designer with a more flexible schedule, had a bit more time before her workday began.
As Luna hurriedly said her goodbyes and left for the hospital, I gathered my things, preparing to follow suit. Just as I was about to leave, Sofia stopped me, a thoughtful expression on her face.
"Wait," she said, reaching for a warm scarf and wrapping it around my neck. "It's cold outside. You don't want to get sick." I smiled gratefully, feeling the warmth of her gesture, and bid her farewell.
