A figure walked past the school and ended up on a casual street with benches and cherry blossom trees surrounding the walkthrough (I dunno what they are called). The petals of the trees had fallen and gathered up on the ground. It was a beautiful scene, and he took a short moment to admire it. By this time, there were not many people hanging around here. The young male went over to an empty bench and sat down; it seemed as if he was waiting for someone by his actions.
It was like what? 12 minutes into the afternoon break, when Isagi came running up to him. It's currently cherry blossom season, 'a beautiful time of the year' apparently. Isagi said something about going home together with him and buying them... a popsicle each. And he couldn't reject the offer, it was too tempting. By now, it's the end of school, around 3:30pm.A wind swiftly blew by the line of trees, making his hair fly towards the way of the wind. As something seemed to have got in his eyes, he shut them closed and whom he saw next was Isagi with two popsicles in his hand. Ah, the familiar cobalt blue eyes gazing at him, he felt quite at ease seeing the other.
"Hey Rin! Sorry for keeping you waiting."
Isagi smiled and walked over to the other and handed him a popsicle.
Rin got up and took it, immediately (kind of) shoving it in his face. Isagi looked at him with disbelief, does he not get brain freeze?
...
After Rin was finished, Isagi had barely even licked his own ice cream. Feeling a little disappointed, he spoke out his thoughts.
"You know, I thought that we should've ate it slowly while walking home but do what you want I guess..."
Isagi walked forward and signaled Rin to follow. Neither of them struck a conversation as they quietly admired the spring blossoms falling off the trees. Him and Isagi would hang out from time to time. Rin doesn't know when their "friendship" had started but he enjoyed spending time with Isagi. Maybe it was just the energy of the other, but Rin felt quite secured around him. And for them, silence was their most usual accompany during their walks. Both of them may strike a conversation at times but the peaceful silence was their thing. Isagi may be a social person, but he also needs time to admire the world quietly. And Rin, Rin doesn't really ever talk with others, so at the end of the day, when Isagi is there to start a chat with him or two, he doesn't mind. They were basically a perfect match.
"Rin, do you even have any friends other than me?"
Isagi spoke, breaking the silence while watching the petals fall down slowly as the wind then carries them away. Rin thought about it for a minute, it seemed like he was considering whom someone would call their "friend". After a while, he shook his head hesitantly. Isagi let out a visible chuckle at the lonely Rin.
"I thought you'd have at least one friend in your lifetime except for me."
Rin frowned and looked away from the other.
"I mostly just played soccer with my brother. He was basically my only friend for as long as I can remember."
Rin spoke, bitterness suddenly entering his mouth. The bitter taste of regret and disappointment always forms in his mouth whenever he remembers his elder brother. A broken bond, never to be fixed. The sweet laughter of Isagi woke him up from his thoughts, making him gaze at the shorter.
"It would get lonely sometimes, ey?"
Isagi usually spoke with a bright spirit. He always does, actually. Rin had never seen him look anything other than joyful. He would sometimes wonder to himself how Isagi would look, if he were to be mad or drenched with sorrow. But he'd then give up on the thought, while asking himself why his mind was filled with Isagi.
"Not really. I liked just hanging out with him." Rin responded simply.
Isagi smiled and nodded. They began the silent walk again, sometimes touching the blossom trees. Rin felt peacful when with Isagi. When he was with him, the world would turn radiant with every little word he spoke or action he'd do. Rin has no idea why he feels this way and often dwells upon it. It was as if a new sun, the light of his own little world left dark had made it's way over and shone in all its glory. That was how he'd describe Isagi; A bright sun.
While walking side by side through the cherry blossoms, a petal, soft as a pillow lands on Isagi's head. Rin noticed the little petal stuck on Isagi's ahoge. As Rin stared at it, he felt that it was quite... adorable. Rin's lips slightly curved upwards while he picked up the petal, showing it to Isagi.
"It landed on your head."
Rin spoke sweetly. Sweeter than ever. To Isagi, Rin's tone of voice had tasted like cotton candy, soft, sugary, dissolving in his mouth easily with a single bite. He takes the petal and blows it up towards the sky. They both stared at it drifting away. Who would've thought that such a simple moment would feel so significant to them? It was just them alone, walking home along the cherry blossom trees. A beautiful sight of the evening sun setting, coloring the whole sky into a sunset. They felt close with each other. This walk was special to them. The Sakura trees surrounded them with passion, it was truly a beautiful time of the year. It was even more beautiful with this boy named Isagi who had befriended Rin at the start of the year. This really was, the most beautiful sight Rin had ever witnessed with his own turquoise eyes. Isagi, the light of his world that shone through the greatest darkness.
