Midnight had fallen, and the castle lay cloaked in an eerie silence. Jungkook had finally succumbed to exhaustion, his restless sleep a testament to the weight of our shared burdens. It was in this stillness that I decided to act, to confront the Royal Court, and to protect my sister, Su-na, from the fate they had threatened.
I crept out of our chambers, leaving Jungkook asleep, unaware of my intentions. In my trembling hands, I clutched the letter that had brought about this nightmare. The invitation was a cruel joke, a way for the Royal Court to exert its dominance over me, to remind me of my place.
As I walked through the dimly lit corridors of the castle, my heart pounded in my chest. I had deliberately hidden the invitation from Jungkook, knowing that its contents would only terrify him further. The message within bore a sinister threat, one that hung over me like a sword poised to strike: If I dared to reveal the truth to Jungkook about my sister's captivity, Su-na would suffer.
The royal guards stationed at the castle entrance eyed me with suspicion as I passed, their expressions a mixture of contempt and amusement. They had been instructed to let no one leave the castle at this hour, and my actions did not go unnoticed.
"What are you doing out here, servant?" one of them barked, his voice laced with mockery.
I trembled, my voice barely a whisper. "I have an invitation from the Royal Court."
Laughter erupted among the guards, their jeers echoing through the night. "An invitation? You? Don't make us laugh."
But I was adamant. I had to face the Royal Court, to protect Su-na and to ensure Jungkook's safety. With a trembling hand, I produced the invitation from the folds of my robe, offering it as proof of my intent.
The guards' laughter subsided as they examined the invitation, their expressions shifting from mockery to something far more sinister. One of them, a burly man with a cruel glint in his eye, stepped forward and grabbed me by the collar, his grip like a vice.
"Seems like we've got a brave one here, don't we?" he sneered.
The others nodded in agreement, their faces contorted with malice. Without a word, they began to taunt me, hurling insults and harsh words that cut through me like a blade.
"Look at this lowly servant, thinking he's worth an invitation," one of them jeered.
"Doesn't he know his place?" another chimed in, shoving me roughly.
But I knew that I had to endure their torment if it meant reaching the Royal Court.
They dragged me through the castle, my body aching from their rough handling. The grand doors of the Royal Court loomed before me, and my heart sank as I realized the gravity of the situation. I was about to confront the very institution that held the power to destroy everything I held dear.
As I was thrust into the court's grand chamber, I fell to my knees, my head bowed in submission. The royal priest, a stern and unforgiving figure, towered above me, his voice dripping with disdain.
"What is the meaning of this intrusion, servant?" he thundered, his eyes boring into mine.
I took a deep breath, my voice unwavering despite my fear. "I have come to address the Royal Court's decree regarding the cursed prince."
The court members exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of curiosity and irritation. They had not expected me to defy their orders, to challenge their authority.
The royal priest's face twisted into a sinister smile. "Ah, so the servant has a voice. Speak, then. What do you have to say?"
My words tumbled out in a rush, my desperation giving way to a fierce determination. "You have no right to harm my sister, Su-na. She is innocent in all of this."
