I woke up the next morning with a faint headache, and pain in my arms. After taking a Tylenol prescribed by the doctor and getting dress. I went down stairs to where everyone was gathering. Marcus and my dad still sleeping as usual.
"Hey? How are you feeling?" Mom asks as she walks around the table to me.
"Been better." I say with a humoured smile.
"We all took the day off from work just to be with you today." Andy spoke with his eyes tersely trained on a book in front of him. I cocked my head reading the title, Ranger's Apprentice. His new favourite series.
"Aw, thanks guys!" I say hugging my mom and smiling at Andy. "That means so much."
"Well, that abs we didn't want you to be alone when the police show up to question you." Andy added finally glancing up a me.
"Police?"
"Yeah, Derek called the police on the guy that tripped you and held Lucy back so she didn't enter a fistfight with a gang. Talented guy, if you ask me."
"I'm not surprised." I say rubbing my eyes at the fresh headache.
"Do you think you'll press charges?" My mom asked leading me to the table and grabbing warm pancakes, preparing them the way I always like it. I shook my head.
"No. I messed up the order and tripped. He had nothing to do with it other then being close."
"Alright."
"Pancakes!" Marcus shouted as he thumped down the stairs with pj bottoms on, and no shirt. His hair still tousled with sleep. I smiled as he grabbed a plate and filled it faster then my mom could say "Buenos días." (Good morning)
My dad came down a little later and we finished eating. As we cleaned up and talked about events the police knocked on the door. We let them in and I have my report, in all it was very short. They came and left satisfied with my response, probably glad for less paper work.
I got a text from Ocsär saying he and the rest of the friends would be coming around lunch, and to be ready. My mom was called into an emergency surgery and left in a hurry, leaving me a cookie recipe to make with my friends.
The doorbell rang loudly as I sat down with a bowl of chips in my arms. I could hear my friends laughter from here.
"I'll get it!" Marcus yelled from the table, where he was grudgingly studying homework. Rushing to the door opening it abs rushing back. (Nothing is not in a hurry with him) I sigh.
"In the living room." I announced as I heard them taking off their shoes and sweaters. Oscär peeked around the corner at me with a smile. He stepped into the room holding his hands behind his back. Actually all my friends held smirks and were holding their hands behind their backs. I raised my eye brows at them.
"Hey...?"
"Hope you feel better!" They yelled attempting to do it in rhythm but failed miserably, I laughed as they showed me their gifts. Oscär was holding one of his cat's kittens from the recent litter. Haley had a large box of chocolates. Saydee was holding two bottles of wine, staring quite hungrily at them. Lucy had a newly bought soft blanket in my favourite colour and a book to read. I smiled with absolute pure joy.
"Come sit!" I encouraged them, waving at the couches around me. They threw the gifts on the coffee table and sat down all talking at once.
"Shut it!" Andy yelled from the kitchen where he was trying to make a sandwich with one hand , and read with the other. He looked up and glowered.
"I can't focus properly with all of you talking so loudly. My friends and I just laughed at his statement.
"Alright, what do you guys want to do?" I asked stuffing a chocolate into my mouth, savouring the taste.
"Make cookies!" Marcus called from the table.
"Cookies!!!" Oscär yelped in happiness and running to the kitchen, finding the recipe out. He squealed. The rest of us followed him to the kitchen as he ran around grabbing all the aprons in our house and stuffing them in our arms. We laughed as we started making them, making more of a mess then we were probably supposed to. Saydee stayed back and watched us while scrolling on her phone.
"Flour attack!" Oscär cried as he grabbed a handful and threw it at the rest of us. Lucy growled and tackled him, cracking an egg into his hair. Soon we were in the great cookie war, the batter completely forgotten, leaving Marcus free access to start snacking on it. When we realized what he was doing, we teamed up and made him our next victim.
My dad woke up from his nap to us standing on the table, covered from head to toe with flour, egg and batter. He looked around and went back to his room chuckling. So how after that we managed to get the dough into the oven and the timer on. We cleaned up the kitchen and the girls borrowed my clothes as we threw the messy ones into the laundry. Oscär having to wear Marcus' jock sweater and too baggy sweat pants. Marcus going back to his homework with a smile on his face.
We sat back in the living room and debated whether or not to watch a movie. By then Saydee had had enough and decided to leave. The doorbell rang shortly after she left confusing the most of us. I opened the door in my ridiculously oversized hoodie with pink zebras all over it. Nikolai stood there with chocolate and flowers. I smiled shyly as he looked down at my clothes in absolute surprise.
"Hilde, not Hel. You feeling better?" He asked handing me the gifts with a smile. I waved him in sniffing the flowers, Dandelions from the sidewalk.
"Yes, thank you." We entered the living room as my decided against watching a movie, instead playing truth or dare.
"Do you wanna join us?" I asked sitting down patting the spot beside me. He smiled and nodded, and sat down.
