Chapter 5

Third person POV:

Chongyun walked to their usual meet up spot. He spotted Xinqiu and immediately, his heart started to pound out of his chest. 

"Hi... Xingqiu" he said while walking towards his best friend (for now)

"Oh, hi Chongyun." Xingqiu said. He looked away from Chongyun.

Xingqiu POV:

There was a lump in my throat.

"You wanted to talk to me?" He asked.

"I think you know what it's about" I paused and waited for him to nod. "I'm really sorry, Chongyun. I didn't think about how you would feel in that situation, I was so disrespectful. I hope you'll forgive me"

I'm so disgusting.

I used him.

I didn't even think about how he wouldn't like it.

I'm so stupid.

"I forgive you"

I was surprised by his answer. I thought he would hate me... I thought he would stop being my friend.

Chongyun POV:

I shakily took his hand and looked up at him for consent. He nodded. 

"I will always forgive you...

Because... I love you" I said, while his face turned red. 

"I love you as a friend!" I added on the end.

Xingqiu POV:

It's not the kind of love I wanted, but I was so happy by his words. 

A second later, Chongyun realised what he said.

"W-wait! That was a weird thing to say! Sorry, Xingqiu, please forgive me!"

He looked embarrassed, so cute!

"No need to apologise, it was a nice thing to say" I pulled him into a hug.

He smiled and wrapped his arms around me.

Chongyun POV:

"I love you as a friend too" He whispered in my ear.

I blushed bright red, luckily he couldn't see me.

As we pulled apart, our eyes met. He looked relieved. Was he relieved that he was still my friend, or that I didn't like him more than one? 

"So, do you want to meet up with Xiangling at Wanmin Restaurant?" He asked.

"Yes, let's go"

I think this is the end of our story, not all happy endings are a romantic one.

But

I'm not happy.
