Chapter 83

It was a bustling morning in Detroit, with the city coming to life as Thom, Ed, and the rest of the bandmates hurried off to prepare for tonight's concert. Meanwhile, Esme was busy entertaining Rachel with her science experiments.

Esme had set up a mini chemistry lab in the hotel room, with test tubes, beakers, and chemicals scattered around. Rachel watched in awe as Esme mixed different liquids and created colorful reactions.

"Wow, Esme, that's so cool!" Rachel exclaimed.

Esme grinned. "I know, right? Science is amazing! Did you know that chemistry is all around us? The air we breathe, the food we eat, even the clothes we wear, it's all made up of chemicals!"

Rachel's eyes widened in fascination, and Esme went on to explain the intricacies of chemistry through simple experiments. They spent the morning conducting experiments and discussing science, with Esme's passion and enthusiasm rubbing off on Rachel.

As they finished up their experiments, Esme suggested a sightseeing tour of Detroit. Rachel was excited, and they set off to explore the city.

Esme took Rachel to Belle Isle, a beautiful island park with stunning views of the Detroit skyline. They visited the Detroit Institute of Arts, where Esme showed Rachel her favorite paintings and sculptures. They even visited the Motown Historical Museum, where Rachel was introduced to the music of Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

As they walked around the city, Rachel felt a sense of wonder and excitement at everything she saw. Esme was the perfect companion, guiding her through the sights and sounds of Detroit with a sense of joy that Rachel had never experienced before.

As night fell, Thom and Ed returned from their soundcheck, and Esme and Rachel met them at the hotel. The bandmates were impressed with Esme's babysitting skills and grateful for her help.

As they prepared for tonight's concert, Rachel cuddled up to Esme, feeling grateful for the amazing day they had spent together. Esme was more than just their friend and a Radiohead fanatic, she was also a wonderful teacher and mentor. Rachel couldn't wait to see what other adventures awaited her on this tour with her dads and their amazing friend.

Chapter 84

The next day, Thom and Ed woke up early to spend the day with Rachel. They decided to take her to a local diner for breakfast and some quality time together. As they walked into the restaurant, a woman with a short blonde bob and beady eyes glared at them. Her gaze fell on Rachel, and she looked visibly irritated.

Karen marched over to their table and sneered, "What are you two doing with this child? Did you kidnap her or something?"

Thom and Ed tensed up, but tried to reason with her. "No, we didn't kidnap her. She's our daughter," Ed said.

The woman huffed and puffed, refusing to believe them. "How could a child be with two men? It's not normal."

Thom's voice rose with frustration. "We adopted her as a baby. She's our daughter. What's so hard to understand?"

The Karen refused to listen, and the situation grew tense. That's when two Radiohead fans who had been sitting nearby intervened. They approached the table and confronted the Karen, saying that Thom and Ed were their idols and that they weren't going to let her harass them or an innocent child.

The Karen's face turned red and she tried to argue, but the fans wouldn't back down. "Do you realize who they are? They could completely ruin your life if they wanted to. But they're too adorable and sweet for that," one fan said, gesturing to their table.

Thom and Ed looked at each other with a mixture of amusement and gratitude for their fans' support. The restaurant manager got involved and checked the security cameras, which proved that the Karen was being unreasonable and aggressive.
