Chapter 5
Cameron Sanderson Elcortez quietly walked into her step son's room. She knew she was supposed to be in bed with her husband at that moment but she just couldn't stop thinking about her step child. She kept reminding herself that Franisco was her son now and she shouldn't be feeling the way she felt about him. She didn't know if she made the fact obvious to the people around her but she knew that she was completely in love with him.

It was a sin and she hated herself for betraying her husband but from the moment she met him, she knew she would be in trouble.

As she smiled at his large figure that was covered under a blanket, she began to fantasize him whispering soft loving words into her ear at night. They would have no troubles and everything that was keeping them apart would disappear. She knew he felt the same about her deep down but he was just too shy to give into his desire.

She took off her fitted black cotton robe and threw it on the ground. She was left alone in her white lace nightgown that she had put on just for him.

His back was turned to her so she couldn't quite see his devishly handsome face, only his long black hair that seemed to cover half of the pillow. He hated cutting his hair but to her, that made him more appealing.

As she got in bed with him she heard him mumble soft senseless words.
He was a deep sleeper, so she could easily slip in and out without him noticing.
She softly kissed the back of his neck and he trembled.

She laughed. She knew she had an effect on him.
Although he was engaged to be married, she knew that they would find a way through it. Love conqueres all.

She could easily get rid of Kia because the girl was so nieve! It was quite obvious that she was head over heals in love with Francisco and it was quite sickening actually. As his 'mother-in-law', it was her duty to keep in contact with the girl to keep track of how well how their relationship was progressing.
She told them they were getting alone quite fine. Her darling Francisco was a gentleman as usual and he kept Kia happy.

She hated her husband for forcing him to marry some girl that he didn't really adore like he adored her.

Soon she and Francisco would be together. She just needed some time to get her husband and that dreadful Kia out of the way.

She realized that she had been staring at her step son for more than five minutes
but how could she ever stop staring at his tanned, muscular face?
His green eyes always made her day. His full lips always looked deliciously flawless.

It was time to go. She had spent too much time with him and her husband would have noticed she was gone. She couldn't risk one of the maids seeing her leave her son's room so early in the morning.

She sighed as she got out of the bed and grabbed her robe. She slowly opened the door and closed it just the same. As she was about to make her way down the large corridor with wooden statues of men and women at both sides of the hallway, she would have never known that Valentina's personal maid had seen her leaving Francisco's room.

As she got back into her room, she saw that her husband was no longer in bed but she heard him vomiting in the bathroom. He had told her that he wasn't feeling well a week ago and yesterday he had started vomiting blood. She couldn't be bothered with his problems so early in the morning so she simply slipped under the covers and finally fell asleep when her husband had stopped throwing up and a maid had helped him out of the room. He would be fine in a few days or so.

Francisco rolled onto his back and yawned.
He slowly peeled the blanket off his body and stretched then winced. His muscles were sore from his journey home.

Home

He smiled remembering that he was in the only place where he could be genuinely comfortable.
Francisco was happy that he would be able to relax for the next few weeks, despite the fact that he had a bitch of a step mother to deal with and a sister that was angry at him, he was glad to be home.

The room was still dark so he pulled the curtains apart and allowed some sunlight to enter the room. As he opened the window, he thought about the things that he would do throughout the day.
His room overlooked a beautiful garden that had miraculously came back to life over the long period that he was gone.

He wondered who had taken the time out to nurse the old garden with dead, stingy plants back to health.

None of the maids were allowed out of the house that long so they wouldn't have the time for nursing a garden unless they were told to do so. Valentina knew nothing about gardening; come to think of it, she really didn't know much about anything that had to do with the home. His step mother was too busy shopping for the latest clothes to even think about gardening. He was sure she would even laugh at the idea. He wanted to know who took care of the garden and one day he would find out. Until then he would have to just keep a close eye on it.

All was well in his world. He then thought about Kia and his smile faded.
He had written her a brief letter to her saying that he was doing fine and she didn't need to worry about him.

Kia had wanted to visit him at his home a few days from now but he honesty couldn't care less about what she did.

It was time for him to take his morning shower and that's exactly what he did a few minutes later.

Going downstairs, he saw Valentina giggling at something her personal maid had said. For some odd reason, he wanted to learn the maid's name.
His sister was seated at the dining table waiting for her breakfast while the maid was standing beside her mistress. Why would Valentina bring this girl to the area where they were going to eat?

Taking a seat opposite Valentina, he said a pleasant good morning to her only to receive a deadly glare from his younger sister. Ignoring his embarrassment,he cleared his throat and asked Valentina's maid to get him a glass of water.

Without protest she glanced at her mistress as if asking her it was okay for her to leave. He saw Valentina nod slowly.
As soon as the maid left the room, he said

"C'mon Tina, you can't still be mad at me"
No response came from the girl.

He desperately grabbed her hand and she looked up at him shocked.
"Valentina you have to forgive me!" He pleaded "I was so angry and scared that you would do something stupid. Please you must understand that I only want the best for you because you're my baby sister"
She looked up at him and said, "I'll forgive you on one condition"
He smiled and said, "Anything"
"You have to be nicer to my friend"

Your maid

He was about to tell her that but he caught himself because that's what started this fight in the first place.
"Okay okay" he sighed then asked,
"What's her name anyway?" The thing that actually scared him was that he really wanted to know.
"It's Caroline"

Caroline had heard the whole thing. She didn't want to walk in on the conversation because she knew they were finally talking like civilized people and not going down each other's throats.

She was glad they fixed things.

What bugged her was that Valentina wanted him to befriend her.
How could she ever consider the man that hit her as a friend?
Deep down she knew that she would forgive him no matter what he did to hurt her.
That was what scared her the most.
