Chapter 7
The tension in the vehicle was killing Francisco.
He was almost sure his little sister was about to jump out of the van at any moment.
He shouldn't have reacted the way he had towards the situation. Pushing the filth on the ground was uncalled for but sometimes his temper made him do some awful things. He had gotten irritated because not only was his sister being disrespectful to him for the first time ever but he had gotten a phone call from his fiancé in New York. She had said she missed him and wanted to come visit him in England for a few days. Kia was beginning to get insecure and had started being very clingy.
He didn't want her in his home;at least not yet. He needed to get his relationship back on track with his sister first. There was something that was trying to break the bond between them and he was sure it was that maid's fault.
He knew that was really a poor excuse for not wanting his fiancè to be with him but he had enough of her in New York. He just wanted to get away from all the issues that he had to face back home.
Yes, he considered Kia Carty to be a problem. He didn't want to get married, marriage was based off love and that was something he could never feel for Kia...or anyone else for that matter.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he took his eyes off the road for a split second so that he could see the expression on Valentina's face.
She her face held a blank expression and that scared him because she could always tell what his sister was thinking and how she was feeling just by looking at her facial expression, but this time she didn't have one. He had no idea how to approach the problem now. So he tried something that always made every woman melt when he did it. He tried being adorable."You remember when we were kids and I accidentally spilt chocolate milk on your favorite sparkly dress?"
No reply.
"You were so mad at me and I tried everything to make you happy again"
He realized she was looking out the window. Francisco frowned but continued talking."I didn't go playing with my friends that day, I stayed home and ironed all your doll's clothes,I cleaned your entire room and allowed the maid to rest, I even helped the chef to bake your favorite cookies then got some flowers and presented them along with the cookies to you--"
"What's your point Francisco?" He flinched at the flat tone of Valentina's voice.
He ignored the sting he felt in his chest and continued, "You were still angry at me and I thought I was about to lose my little sister, I felt like you wouldn't love me or look up to me anymore and I started crying because I felt like I failed you"
Her face softened a bit before going back to hard and cold."When you saw how awful I looked, you told me something..you remember what it was?"
"'My doll's clothes weren't ironed properly idiot'?"
Francisco groaned and mumbled a small no."Then I have no idea what you're talking about"She was being stubborn and that rode on his nerves. He tried not to get impatient though.
"You said that even though I messed up so often, I was still your big brother and you would always love and forgive me..no matter what I did"
She scoffed and asked him what his point was.
"My point is, is that I know I've made such an awful mess of things but I really do hope you can forgive me one more time"She gave a bitter laugh.
"How dare you?"
Francisco knew where this was going so he pulled the van over on a deserted street that led to a small cottage in the country that was owned by his father, he had planned to have a peaceful picnic there but by the way things were going, there would be no peace.
