After saying goodbye to Brimstone the others headed back to town. It was nearly half a day of driving but that didn't phase them. It was decided Linda would keep the hero's bow, Barley would keep the sword and armor, and Ian would keep the heroes staff.
Linda and Ian spent the trip studying the school books they had brought.
Cinda spoke to her father a bit and also spoke to Barley while he was driving.
Barley stops the van in front of Cinda's house. "Alright first stop. All out for home." He declared as if he was a bus driver."
Linda and Earl exited the car.
Cinda paused slightly just as she was exiting the door. "Before I was taken you asked if I wanted to go get some food with you. You still want to do that, yeah?"
Barley nods. "Of course."
She smiles. "Alright I'll call you later."
"See ya then." Barley replied, nodding towards her.
As Cinda left Linda returned to the door. "I hope that you'll still want to study soon. I'm just awfully tired right now."
Ian nods. "Yes, I want to study. I'm also worn out. Let's continue later."
Linda nods and waves behind her as she walks up the sidewalk. "Ok I'll cya later."
The two return home. As they arrived they realized Linda had forgotten the bow in the van but they weren't too worried about it. They could always take it to her later.
As they walk inside their mother enters the walk way and smiles. "I want to hear all about your adventure. First I have a bit of good news." She pulls out her phone and flips through some pictures. "Look at this."
Barley looks at the picture. "What am I looking at here? It looks like a bunch of people standing in my event hall?"
Laurel nods. "It is. They all showed up just after you left. They wanted to help restore the monuments around town." She pulls out a small stack of papers. These are submissions to your club. They are all at the dragon's forge right now helping restore it using the notes you left behind."
Barley smiles. "That awesome news!" He says. "I have some great news as well. Cinda's dad and Linda's uncle were able to be saved and Cinda still wants to go on a date with me." Barley smirks.
"My sweet young boy is becoming a man." She chuckles, wiping some dirt off his face. "You kids are filthy. Go ahead and clean up and then come tell me all about your adventure."
At dinner later that night.
Laurel hears all about what they learned and gets the full story about what they went through. "Wow, it seems like there was a lot going on." she remarks. "I'm glad you both made it home safely."
Ian nods. "Corey was a huge help. Without her it would have taken us forever to get the diamond." he pulls his cell phone out of his pocket. "I can't believe I forgot my cell phone here at the house. I really have to start keeping a better track of my stuff."
Barley laughs and sets his phone down on the table. "Forgetting your phone was probably a good thing, mine broke. I'm sure I landed on it at some point during the battle. It won't even turn on now."
Laurel looks at the shattered screen and frowns. "Guess we'll have to get you a new one."
"Linda just texted me." Ian says after his phone dings. "She wants to know why Barley's phone went straight to voicemail." he responds to her. "Because his phone is broken."
Barley stretched out in his seat. "I'm exhausted but I gotta have a phone. I'm going to head out to the phone store right away." he stands up and walks towards the door with his broken phone. "Do you want to come, Ian?"
