—Chapter 27—

The days flew by and Ni-ki still had yet to wake from his coma. Everyone busied themselves with their own missions and tried to push everything to the back of their minds.

Jungwon made sure to keep the cycle running as smoothly as he could whilst the injured members recuperated.

Sunoo and Sunghoon's major injuries were on the mend. Sunoo had returned to his lab in the basement to continue his experiments and Sunghoon had been slowly easing back into more physical movement.

Jay had also received the 'go ahead' from the medic to start up training again, much to his delight.

Jiseon drowned herself in her work, the others barely catching a glimpse of her as she was constantly out of the house during the day.

Jake was worried for his friend but knew it was best to leave her be in this time. He shared his knowledge with the others, reassuring them that she'd be fine.

Jiseon would often return only at night when the others had long past gone to sleep in their rooms.

Heeseung would sometimes stay up waiting for her, and the two would have some intimate time alone to talk and relax a bit after a long day of work.

While she appreciated his efforts, she also cherished the personal time alone. It allowed her to grieve properly and begin the long and draining emotional healing process.

She was able to focus on work and distract herself from the unwanted thoughts that circled her mind when she wasn't active or with Heeseung.

One night, she came back home late to a dark house, bloodstains littering her clothing. Droplets had splashed onto her face, giving her an even more intimidating appearance.

The effects of several late-night expeditions and early mornings in a row was beginning to take its toll on her body.

She was exhausted and fatigued, very much looking forward to a hot shower and sleeping in the next day as she finally had a day off.

However, a cacophony of voices drew her attention to the dining room. It was the only area that still had its lights on, casting a bright glow onto the walls of the unlit hallway.

The amount of voices didn't match up to the number of tenants in the house, much to her confusion. That confusion would soon turn into pure shock as she poked her head into the dining room.
