First chapter:

The moment he got up the doorbell rang, he looked at his wife, "can you get the door?" She sighed, "it's probably that salesman again, every time I open it, he just asks for you, over and over."

He could see the beige fedora through the window at the door, he took a deep breath and opened it.
"Good morning!" The man approached the door, lifting his hat a bit before placing it back, "Vault-Tec calling!" He had the usual salesman smile, seemed kinda forced.
He didn't really know much about Vault-Tec, just that they clearly wanted his attention, "Vault-Tec? Remind me again." He hoped he didn't come off as rude.
"Why we're about you, sir!" The salesman gestures towards him briefly with his clipboard, "and helping secure your future. You see Vault-Tec is the foremost builder of state-of-the art underground fallout shelters."

There was a pause.

"Vaults, if you will. Luxury accommodations, where you can wait out the horrors of the nuclear devastation." He smiled.
"You can't begin how happy I am-" the salesman stretched out his arms, gesturing warmth and safety, "to finally speak to you." He took a deep breath, "I've been trying for days..."
Sole survivor felt kinda bad now, but it just sounded like such a chore.

Chapter two:

He had to go home. Maybe... "it wouldn't be that easy to find him..."
He made his way down the road they had recently, to him at least, run up for dear life, he saw more of his neighbours.
"Well, at least they didn't suffer, hopefully they died on impact." He sighed, felt terrible to even say that.
He looked at the devastation around him, flowers he'd never seen, everything looked so familiar yet so different.

He had to get home.

The houses were torn apart, collapsed, leaving only debris...

"Wait..." he walked closer to his house, went into a jog.
"As I live and breathe!" Codsworth turned around, his voice shaking, "it's... its REALLY you!" He sounded so relieved.
"Codsworth! You're... You're still here. So... other people could still be alive, too..." he didn't know what he felt right now, happy but still ruined. But to see Codsworth, to see his friend.

Codsworth sharpened his voice "well of course I'm still here. Surely you didn't think a little radiation could deter the pride of general atomics international?" He hovered a bit to the sides before continuing, "but you seem the worse for wear. Best not let the wife see you in that state, where is the missus by the way?"
Sole survivor's eyes lowered, his chest felt heavy, "they... they killed her." No sugar coating it, that's what happened. Right in front of his eyes.
