Today we finished filming 'HSM 4 Reunion' with the others and it's time to meet everyone in the rehearsal room, once I got there it was empty with only Miss Jenn, Ricky and Gina "wait, Miss Jenn, why is the rehearsal room empty?" Gina asked as we looked around "well, we had to have this conversation eventually. High School Musical 3 is cancelled-." "What?!" I shouted. "The drama department is on pause." Miss Jenn finished explaining. "On pause? What does that even mean?" Ricky asked. "No-one showed up for the act one run-through yesterday. Except for Emmy. But I'm starting to think she is the ghost of a small Victorian child." Miss spoke "so, you're cancelling the show because we missed one rehearsal?" Ricky asked.
"Half the cast has been missing half the rehearsals. Ricky. Principal Gutierrez made the decision. It is final. We are not allowed to have this club anymore. It's okay, you guys. You have so much to celebrate. You just wrapped a movie. And this, all of this... it was always a high school musical. And today, you begin moving on to even bigger things." Miss Jenn finished her speech. "Okay, what happened?" Ash said as the group entered in "who died?" Kourt asked. "And will there be an estate sale?" Carlos asked. "Technically, a human didn't die." "You texted us 'there's been a death'." Maddie spoke. "There has been. Our drama club." I spoke. "Guys, we don't have a drama club anymore?" Kourt asked "this is why I kept texting you guys that the drama club was cancelled." Emmy spoke.
"All I got was a bunch of symbols." Carlos said checking his messages. "That's because everything I write is encrypted." Emmy explained. "You guys, our department is about to go instinct because none of you except Emmy showed up for rehearsals." Ricky spoke. "Excuse me. You weren't here either." Kourt scoffed. "I had an existential crisis about my future." Ricky defended himself. "Okay, well, I was in Georgia weighing out my options." Kourt defended "I was placing a very confusing phone call." Ash spoke with her hand up "I was incredibly busy, being betrayed." Carlos spoke "betrayed?" I asked. "Big Red told me the kiss was just an accident." Ash spoke "a kiss?" I asked again "I thought you broke up worth him because you were so traumatised." Carlos said to Ash "no, we actually had the most chill break-up of all time." Ash clarified. "We went to Walgreens after. We both need Lactaid pills." Ash explained "wait. So you're single again?" Maddie asked, Ash and her stared at each other. "And Emmy, you're single too. And Jet. Miss Jenn, just naming all the single people." Maddie spoke as she coughed "yeah, and you're not." I whispered to Maddie with a smile.
"I got your text about something being dead. You look alive." Mr. Mazzara said as he walked in "I am, kind of. So, is it true?" Miss asked him "it is." He answered "Principal Gutierrez gave your funding to my department and yes, I have already spent the money on laptops for the local orphanage." Mr. Mazzara spoke which Maddie laughed at "oh, you weren't kidding." Maddie said seriously "he's never kidding, dear." Miss Jenn spoke. "Okay, what's the big deal if we don't have that money?" Gina asked "Gina, honey, it means we don't have the budget to make consumes or build sets. 'High School Musical 3' is complicated 2008 period piece. "Why don't we buy Obama yard signs and print out articles about the recession?" I asked as an idea, then everyone started to agree. "Wildcats, Wildcats. If there's two things I've learned during my many years in the theatre, it's knowing when to enter and when to exit. Today we do the latter." "Um, would you guys, excuse me?" Emmy spoke as she took a deep breathe and walked out.
"I made a child cry today." Miss spoke "last summer changed her life." I spoke "she literally left homeschool to be here with all her new big brothers and sisters." Gin spoke "her biggest dream was to sing at East High." Ash spoke "it was also her biggest fear. She, yeah, told me that." Jet added. "Okay, well, you aren't gonna get very far in life if you go around being afraid all the time." Kourt spoke "then why do you look like you're about to cry?" Ricky asked. "I'm just saying, if you live your life in fear there's gonna be a lot of stuff to be afraid of." Kourt explained. "It sounds like the exact opposite of where you were last year." Ash spoke with a smile "okay, we are not going go there." Kourt refused. "Not gonna go where?" I asked "Ashlyn. it's just a stupid story." Kourt spoke "if all of this is truly over... I mean, just let me be sentimental for, like, one minute, Kourt." Ash said and Kourt nodded "yeah, tell us a story. Ash." Maddie said.
"I haven't thought about this in so long. It was the first day of school. Miss Jenn had just announced she was directing 'High School Musical'." Ash begun as she told everyone the story of how Kourt and her became friends. "I never knew that." Miss spoke after Ash finished telling her story "I guess I sort of forgot." Kourt spoke as she hugged Ash "shout-out to Mr. Mazzara, who let me miss the first day of Robotics Club to audition of the musical." Ash said as everyone gave him a shocked look "Benjamin, you're still here." Miss spoke "I was, now I am not." He spoke as he began to walk out "wait. You're a Six Below Zero fan?" Jet asked him "what? Oh, no. It's nothing." Mr. Marzzara said quickly "you have a Six Below Zero sticker on your laptop, bro." Jet said again "you're grimacing. You look like an emoji." Miss Jenn added as Jet chuckled.
"Well, now I'm sentimental about our first terrible meeting." Miss Jenn spoke "look, I was not exactly in a good place on the first day of school last year." Mr. Mazzara started as he told his story "you were in a boy band?" I asked him "I'm shaking." Carlos spoke "I knew I recognised you." Jet spoke "I went through this obscure boy-band phase in middle school." Jet explained. "He did. It was weird." Maddie admitted. "You guys were really big in Warsaw." "It was the entire country of Poland. But yes, I was briefly part of a male singing institution. They referred to me simply as 'Benny' I was the funky one until they kicked me out for pulling focus. They had one number-one single called 'New Zealand'. Jennifer, I'm so sorry for how I spoke to you that day." He apologised "I forgive you, Benny." Miss Jenn spoke.
