Rosalie and Alice wolf whistled when Bella came back into the room.
"Dang, you look hot," Alice complimented and Rosalie nodded.
Bella looked down, embarrassed.
"Come on," Alice said. "Let's get started on hair and makeup!"
***
"Okay, is everyone ready?" Alice asked.
They nodded. Alice had insisted that they spend the last 2 hours putting on hair and makeup.
"No, no, no!" Alice cried as Rosalie and Bella got up. "We have to make our entrances separately!"
"Alice," Rosalie sighed. "You make this sound way more important than it is."
Alice scoffed. "I-,"
"No one cares!"
She glared at her. "We're doing this my way." She made a hmpf sound. "Rosalie, since your so ungrateful you can go first."
She muttered something that sounded awfully like a profanity. And marched downstairs.
Bella stood up but Alice pushed her down. "No way, we're saving the best for last."
She rolled her eyes. Alice checked her watch. "I'm going down now, after I leave you have to wait exactly 5 minutes."
"What would you do if I left at 4 minutes 59 seconds?"
Alice merely glared at her, and continued maintaining eye contact while backing out of the door.
Bella took the chance she had to quickly rush to Alice's mirror and attempt to smear off some of the excessive lipstick Alice had demanded she put on.
Feeling stupid, she slowly went down the stairs, making sure to hold onto the rail. She knew if anyone would be the one discover that vampires with perfect balance could fall, it would be her.
Edwards's eyes widened and she gave him a shy smile, which he returned, a little dazed.
As soon as she descended the final step, he took her hands in his and kissed her firmly.
"Wow," she breathed after a few moments. "What was that for?"
"I felt like it," he shrugged, grinning widely. Then he sighed. "You are so beautiful.."
"You don't look too bad yourself," she teased.
He didn't respond, just looked at her.
After a few seconds she raised her eyebrows and he seemed to come to his senses.
"Uh, I had planned for us to go to the meadow.." He looked nervous. "Is that okay?"
She nodded eagerly.
There was a certain kind of electricity in the air on the way there. Bella had not forgotten the awkward conversation with Alice and Rosalie.
When they got there, they sat down under a tree on the side of the meadow.
"Rock, paper, scissors for who gets to give their present first?" Bella laughed.
"I usually win Rock, Paper, Scissors," Edward frowned. "Now I have no way of knowing what you'll pick. It's weird.."
"You know the rest of us feel that way all the time."
"It's a hard life," he sighed.
They raised their hands.
