"Remember what I told you. No running around please. Just stay here, and be seated. I will be back soon. If you are good we will go where you want after this," my mother says as I nod my head. She takes that as an answer and pushes through the double doors down the hallway.

She looked unlike herself. She had to be nervous. I know this because I could get the slightest of scents and the energy she gave off was unusual. Maybe it was because we were petitioning something important to the Alpha. And because of that we were at the pack house.

Regardless, all I could think about was how lucky I was to tag along. It's not common for a simple wolf pup like me to be inside the pack house. Although, I won't lie, I had expected it to be a lot more busy. The only people I would see from time to time was the occasional person scurrying between one door to the next. They almost looked like ping pong balls.

It looked comical, however, I knew they were employed by the Alpha because of the emblem on their shirts.

My mother had prepared me, extensively, for what was to be expected inside the pack house. They definitely didn't want a five year old running around the house. That was the drive here, filled with rules of the pack house. My mother was such a rule follower, however that thought was fleeting. All I could think about was the rumors how grand the pack garden looked. Some of the snotty kids in my class raved about it during our "what did you do during the weekend," segment in our class.

As I was lost in my own thoughts and thinking of what fun was to come, I heard a thud down the hallway. I started to get nervous that something happened to mother, but an employee scurried down the hall, and into the room opposite of where my mom had gone into. I sighed in relief and relaxed a bit, however I still watched intently as she left the door slightly ajar. Although I could not see through that crack, I could definitely hear her mutter under her breath. The next thing I know there were two men walking hurriedly down the hall. They were fast, and were also employed by the Alpha. I wonder what had happened.

I was taken slightly out of my doubts when both of them came out of the room carrying a lady that looked to be asleep. And closing the door behind them was the lady who initially went in. They moved so quickly and were so distracted that they paid me no attention. Perfect. The next thing I know I was walking down the hall and about to open the door. I hesitated a bit, only because I was putting myself at risk. If I get caught, I will definitely not be going to the pack gardens today. However my curiosity took over, and sacrificing my wants was a risk I was willing to take. Or so I thought.

As I opened the door, and walked inside to close it behind me, I took the whole room in at once. A sage green room, that was beautiful decorated. You could tell that the person who did this took their time and hand picking every item. However, what caught my eye was the beautifully decorated cage in the center and furthest part of the room. And beside the cage was a baby. Well more of a toddler, with the craziest locks of brown curly hair, and the greenest eyes I have ever seen. They flashed as they saw me, captivating me to move closer, and I did.

Before I knew it, this baby had made its way toward me and as I was about to talk the wind was knocked out of me. And so there I was back on the floor and recently punched from a baby. Did he do something similar to the lady that went out of this room carried and asleep? Who knows? But, also, who is this baby thug?

I had not a chance to think before I heard the door open behind me and was met with a disapproving look from my mother. The lady next to her ran inside the room and took the baby thug off of me. The kid had the audacity of punching me and being on me of me to boot. The shock if it all made my mind spin.

I mean, I know I am a kid too but this was- "I am so sorry Mrs. I am very sorry, I had left my kid in the hallway on the bench. I should of left him at home," my mother's voice shook as she pulled me into a standing position, while bowing and making me bow.

The lady in front of us also had the same eyes and curly hair, but her hair was as bright as the suns. She was very beautiful. "Irene, don't worry about it. As you can see this place is a mad house. Our house manager quit unexpectedly, and now everything is a mess. Even little Kilo acts very off," she said as she waved her hand back and forth and propped her hip out to place the baby there.

At this point we were both, my mother and I standing in front of the beautiful lady and the baby thug. My mother also had a death grip on my shoulder.

"I know you just offered me the position, but I would understand if you have changed your mind. Especially after seeing the behavior of my child," my mother managed to get out. I could feel her tenseness.

"You think so little of me Irene, we both know you are the only one capable of getting things done. Don't underestimate yourself. Also, that boy of yours- Braxton, is it? He's only doing what any other pup would. Frankly I am impressed he stayed still for almost an hour," she said as she put the baby down. Probably he was too heavy. After all he knocked me right out.

Kilo walked toward me and I held my breath. Here goes another one. I was surprised however, as he held me in a death grip hug. This is most definitely a future Alpha. But also what a wishy washy boy, now you love me? My mother let my shoulder go and was about to respond to the Luna, but the show of affection from Kilo must have shocked her.

"You don't have to give me an answer, right now. But my Kilo seems to like your boy. Please think it over. We both know that place is no good for you. Much less for your boy," she stated matter of fact.

And just like that, my mother agreed to give her an answer by Friday and we said our goodbyes. But not after apologizing many times. My mother didn't have to tell me, I knew she already had made up her mind to take that position. For her this was a sign of mercy.

And as we were leaving the pack house in our beat-up car, the pebbled path of pack house's drive way threatened to do with our cheap car's tires. I couldn't help but wish I lived in some place so grand. Or be something great. I looked back and damned myself for not being better mannered, as I could have at least gotten to see the pack gardens. Now all I have to show for if a slightly damaged price and a sore stomach.

Well, bye pack house, and bye pack gardens, I thought as I settled in my seat as we made our way home to our small apartment.
