He was born in the 80s which makes him 40ish. He was birthed in Nebraska and grew up and lived for quite a while in Nebraska. In 5th grade he wrote his first script which was Childs Play 4. During his middle school and high school years, he collected VHS horror movies and watched them over and over again. He was even featured in the newspaper for how many VHS horror films he owned. On the weekends as a teen he would go to the movies with his dad. His dad let him explore many lifestyles and religions as a teenager. After Highschool, Ferguson went to college and had dreams of owning his own video store in Nebraska. But that faded out while in college. After college he didn't know what to do so he worked at Godfathers Pizza. While working there he decided to make a couple of movies with his co workers. So he made a fan film called Scalps 2 the return of DJ. He was recognized by the director and it was added to the bluray of Scalps.
Ferguson also took up editing. He edited 50s,60s and 70s films the way he liked to see them. He added back deleted scenes and posted them online. He was recognized and hired to edit Sleepaway Camp 4 which was a film that was filmed for one day in 1994 until the company went bankrupt and it was shelved until In 2008 it was made into a flashback sequel using clips from the first 3 films to tell a story. Some new footage was filmed for Sleepaway Camp 4. Part 4 pissed fans off and Dustin had to take the blame for that. But it kickstarted his career into horror films.
