Season 1 Episode 4
Kiana POV
Back in college, my morning routine was terrible, and with four months of leisure, I vowed not to make it worse. As I already stated, I schedule my whole life in college, but not fully because I did not include deep morning routines. Which includes make-up and a shower. I was the sort of girl who would take a shower late at night after studying and decide that was enough.
The absence of a morning routine did take its toll on my face, and as I looked further into my face, I realized how hideous I actually was, which may explain why no boys or even girls were glancing my way.
The black rings were substantial, and it appears that they will take longer than four months to go. My brown eyes remained lifeless as always. My hair appears to be in need of highlights, and my face may benefit from some makeup. In sum, I need a fresh start.
As I cleaned my face with one of my mother's face products, I began experimenting with foundation and concealer to make my eyes pop. I think I look better than I did a few months ago. I curl my hair with a hot iron to add volume, and I finish with a nude lipstick to bring my cracked lips to life.
My feet paddle down the steps, thankful that I don't resemble a walking zombie. Stefano and my mother were already seated. My mother dresses sharply in her business clothing. We were meant to play catch-up, but with work, I deem that unnecessary.
I sat right next to Stefano, who was fiddling with the bowl of dry cereal with the spoon. She stated that the sweet dry cereal provided her more energy than with milk, and I couldn't agree more. Even if some of her eating choices were unusual, she was distinctive.
"Good morning, y'all." My fingers were barely holding on to the cereal box, which seemed a mile away. My mother moaned as she shifted the box and my fingers were entangled in it.
"When are we going to that spa down the street? I need it." In desperation, I said. My body felt stiff, and even though I knew I had around 120 days ahead of me, it was enough to make me sigh and relax.
"Well, I'm not as fortunate as you to have four months. Not even a single day. So I'm not sure. But if you choose, you may continue without me." She offers as she draws to a halt. She retrieved her black jacket from the back of her chair.
"Here's what, I'll wait two days and see if you have time by then." I'll simply go ahead and do it."
"Thank you very much; you're the best." As she kissed my cheeks, she said.
"Stefan." flatly she said. Stefano nodded, and my mother exited. "What was that about?" I inquired, my brow furrowed.
She shook her head.
"Come on, you can tell me." I pour the rainbow cereal into the little white dish and motion for her to give the milk to me. I took the milk and poured it in, seeing the cereal drown in it. I picked up my spoon and scoop a spoonful in my mouth.
"Did you all argued?" I asked, not swallowing my cereal. Stefano glanced up at me, disgusted. I gulped it whole.
"Sorry. It's a bad habit." Around my college friends we were completely dogs.
We don't have time to be polite and act like ladies from the 1800s. We simply go with the flow of events.
As she stood, she fluffed my hair like I was a child.
"Somethings are better left unsaid." She murmured. Before I could question what it meant, her figure vanished up the stairs, most likely into her art area.
