The Fall of an Empire

The Start of it all...

The day I became suspicious. The day I ruined our marriage. And the day my world came crashing down. This all happened in one day. This is the story that will tell it all.

I awoke late at night a bit past midnight, what woke me was someone giggling and whispering from the hall. My husband, the Emperor was not in bed so I assumed he had been downstairs getting a drink and got distracted since it happens a lot.
The only reason I went downstairs is to grab a late night snack (love me some poke at night). The thing I saw when I walked down there had me speechless...

My husband and sister...kissing..? Yup. Best show I've ever attended. The worst part is my sister was engaged to a man from a pretty far Empire. However, he was an enemy so our parents forced her into an arranged marriage with him so he wouldn't attack us anymore. My husband was mine and his choice, we asked our parents for consent for our families to become whole and they reluctantly agreed. Seeing this made me worry on how things would go if her soon-to-be husband knew about this. You're probably wondering "why are you going to tell him????", Hell no. However, it was obvious that a few of our maids had witnessed them in our living room. Her fiance is apparently a very cruel man who had all his previous fiances slaughter for not being loyal. You're also probably thinking "Nadia, wouldn't you want them dead for hurting you???". Girl, no? She's my sister not my enemy plus if she's happy with him I'm okay with that as long as the past is kept in the past.

By morning, our parents were knocking on the front gate. They were clearly enraged after hearing from their youngest daughters fiance that she was caught with their eldest daughters husband. Once the guard finally let them in, Dad came running up the stairs to our bedroom where my husband and I were just waking up at. Like geez if looks could kill my husband would be dead. My mother came in the room with tears falling down her face, she hugged me and said she was so sorry. My husband just pretended like my parents were insane and nothing actually happened at all last night. I didn't know how to feel...
So I did what any good person would do.. I let myself stay heartbroken and let everyone else be happier..

"Papa.. It's fine. I already knew, I witnessed it downstairs last night along with the maid who told Beth's fiance. I think we should just let Beth and Marc be together.. Love is Love.." I said, the looks on my parents faces was kinda predicted they looked upset and disgusted all at the same time.. I don't blame them though cause me too girl..
"Nadi..? Are you sure? Are you really just gonna let your sister and husband be together after hurting you..?" Queen Natalía asked. Her voice was kinda shaking, it was like she was scared to have to say those words to me.. It sucked.
"Fine. Beth and Marc will marry and you will have to marry the soon to be Emperor Seth.. I'm sorry," King Artimis said. That was how my marriage ended.

I never thought I'd be the one ending our marriage but here I am.. Letting my little sister marry my husband and I marry her fiance. This does kinda hurt however, I was warned by Marc's mother that it's possible that things might turn rough throughout our marriage. Maybe being with Seth is a better idea.
