A Fateful Encounter

Seonghwa's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the gentle caress of morning light that filtered through his bedroom curtains. The soft glow gradually painted the room, casting shadows that danced upon the walls like fleeting memories. He lay still for a moment, allowing the transition from slumber to wakefulness to unfold at its own pace.

The world around him took shape in fragments, the familiar contours of his room slowly coming into focus. The warmth of his blankets, the gentle rustle of fabric, and the quiet rustling of the leaves outside his window all combined to create an ambiance of serene comfort.

With a languid stretch, Seonghwa swung his legs over the side of the bed, his feet meeting the cool touch of the wooden floor. As he stood, a sense of anticipation began to ripple through him. It wasn't just any morning – it was his 16th birthday. Maybe they would finally let him join a mission?

Just then, the door to his bedroom eased open, revealing a figure that brought an even brighter smile to Seonghwa's lips. It was a shorter young boy, his face radiating excitement and joy. "Happy birthday, Seonghwa!" the boy exclaimed, his voice carrying the kind of enthusiasm that only a true friend could muster.

"Thank you, Woo." Seonghwa's heart swelled with gratitude and happiness as his friend's words filled the room. Wooyoung had always been a constant, steadfast presence in Seonghwa's life, a beacon of companionship that had illuminated the often turbulent path they navigated together. Throughout the years, as they had grown up in the midst of what often felt like a challenging environment, Wooyoung had been the pillar upon which Seonghwa leaned.

Growing up in the midst of a place that others might call a "hellhole," Seonghwa had found solace in the corridors and corners of the Marine Enforcements Corps headquarters. It was a sanctuary, a refuge that had beckoned to him from the tender age of twelve. The headquarters had become more than just a building. It had become his home.

Ever since he was born he never had a family. He was told his mom died just after giving birth and his dad never stuck around. All he knew about them was that their marriage was rough and very work driven. He was sad whenever he thought about them. He wondered what it would be like to be in a family. To have a mother and a father looking after him. Instead, the headquarters became his well needed family. Wooyoung had become the little brother he'd always... never wanted. Loud and nosy. But he still loved the crap out of him.

Stepping into the headquarters, Seonghwa was quickly overwhelmed by the sudden rush everyone seemed to be in. It was as though a tidal wave of purpose and urgency surged through the building, sweeping him up in its relentless current. From the most seasoned lieutenants to the highest-ranking commanders, they all converged within the confines of these hallowed halls, their collective energy palpable in the air.

Lieutenants conferred in hushed tones, their brows furrowed in deep concentration as they poured over maps and plans. Commanders, with their badges of authority gleaming, moved with purpose, issuing orders and ensuring that every detail was attended to. Seonghwa couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as he observed the synchronized dance of these dedicated men and women. The headquarters, always teeming with activity, was a microcosm of order within the chaos of the world outside. It was a place where missions were planned, strategies were devised, and lives were dedicated to the pursuit of justice.

"Kihyun Hyung," Seonghwa called out with a hint of urgency in his voice as he intercepted one of the passing lieutenants. His eyes, filled with curiosity and a growing sense of determination, locked onto the older male. "What's happening?"
