Loud steps erupted in the white halls as two figures came to the emergency wards' reception. The black haired male was frozen as panic was present in his eyes when the receptionist asked him. "Dante Denevell. He was sent here a few hours ago, blue haired, this person is his brother." Ivy took over as the receptionist nodded, giving direction to the secluded area-room.

Ivy moved a few steps when she realized Gene was frozen in his spot. She heaved a breath of worry, rushing to him and dragging him by the arm.

The girl knocked onto the door, entering to see tubes and wires connected to her classmate, horrifying her. Gene felt himself weakened at the sight. He saw their mother seated by the bed, tears in her eyes as she saw her other son. Gene was unable to focus as he went to the edge of the bed, seeing the gashes littered over his brother's figure.

Gene shakingly held his hand to his mother's shoulder who immediately held it with slight comfort. "What... What happened? M-mom.. why is he..." he felt his heart pace.

Maria saw the gaze Gene held, making herself frown in worry. "I... was just called, dear. When I arrived they needed to do some surgery... his ribs were--" she soon broke in sobs as Gene held her shoulder, her arms easily finding their way around him.

Ivy sadly watched the two as she went out, giving them some privacy. She stood with her back to the door, looking down as she heard the two sobbing--making her look down. 'Why is it... that these things happen... to people who didn't do anything wrong?' She felt her eyes sting as she saw Gene's weakened and disheveled actions before they'd left. "Ivy." A firm voice made her look to the side, seeing Amelia. The older looked disheveled and slightly out of it as she was still in her sleeping wear beneath her coat. "Ms. Amelia. Dante is still unconscious. But Gene and their mother are inside if you need to talk with them." She uttered, making way for her.

Amelia lightly shook her head. "Dante was talking with me for a tutor session. I got called first due to being in his recently called contact." She voiced with concern as she peeked inside, seeing the two talking and staring at Dante. She moved away as she let go of the handle, a frown on her lips, frustrated as she buried her face in her hands. "I bet it was they who did this... psychopaths..." her tears fell as she bit her bottom lip.

Ivy froze with the sight. Her gaze faltered as she saw how pained the woman who wanted to help them was. Amelia's hand fell to her side, letting Ivy see how fragile she was.

Amelia gave a small yet saddened smile. "S-sorry... I just... couldn't help but feel it was my fault... had I not--maybe if I just didn't get you all involved--there could've been a way to avoid this--"

"And that way doesn't exist now, because the people we are against play like god." They both turned to the shutting door as Gene had stood in front of them, a dark gaze present on his face. "Ms. Amelia... the plan you had for tomorrow... let me take it instead of him. I can handle it." He stared at the woman with determination, the older wanted to protest but seeing his powerful gaze, she wiped her tears off, her usual smug expression came back.

"I'll set up the time... she is naive enough so please... go. I'll send the details tomorrow." Amelia went and turned on her heel, nearing out the doors nearby. "Ms. Amelia, thank you for being strong." A loud enough voice came to her ears as she was wide eyed, freezing to her place, slightly turning to see Ivy smile, seemingly finishing her words as the older's lips curved to a smile before exiting the hospital.

The morning came as Gene was sitting by bed, feeling something poke his cheek, causing him to open his eyes to see a smiling Dante. "Bro! Why are you sleeping here?" Gene sat up, holding the younger's side, seeing if he was okay as the younger raised a brow.

Realizing why his brother was acting up, he removed the grip and smiled. "Dude, I'm fine~ not like I'd die from something like that!' Gene sighed, nodding, patting his thigh before getting up. "You hungry? Mom was out to buy stuff." "What?! Why did you tell on me?!" Dante pouted as he huffed a breath, soon wincing. "That's why, idiot. You broke a rib. Be happy to live and see her smile."

Dante smiled. "Of course I'll live forever, I promised mom i'd take her out on my first paycheck." Gene rolled his eyes as they heard the door, turning to see their mother.

"Mom, look who came back from the coffin." Dante said as if it was a joke, but he got a hit to the shoulder as Maria spouted off scoldings, Gene mischievously watching instead of helping the younger. "I'm making a curfew! If I find you out late again, god irene, i will kick you myself!" "I'm--ow--sorry, please--ow, help!" Maria pointed a finger. "Now eat these, I couldn't find your favorite." Dante pouted as he grabbed the packet of instant food.

Gene stretched his arms as he felt a few muscles stiffen from his sleeping position. Maria recalled something as she turned to him. "Oh, Gene, did you see your friend outside? Seems like they'd been there since last night." Gene furrowed a brow, not sure who she meant, and went out to find a familiar girl. Gene was baffled as he saw Ivy, huddling herself as she sat hugging her legs, ignoring what people would have said. He saw some people passing by looking at her and he soon moved when a guy was taking a picture of her--glaring at the figure who scurried away. He sighed as he squatted down, seeing her sleeping face, holding his arm around the seat she was placed in.

As if he was entranced, he swatted some hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear. It wasn't long till he saw those eyelashes flutter open, innocent teal eyes bore into him.

Gene gave a small smile, Ivy slightly pouting. "...Gene." "Morning, princess." He greeted as she slightly blushed, properly facing him. "Did your brother wake up?" "Seems like he's pretty good. But I'll probably keep him here for the time being." She nodded, hugging her legs closer as Gene stared at her. "W-what?" She felt smaller, looking away.

"Why'd you stay out here? You should've just gone home--or even just came inside the room since the hospital isn't too strict with visitors." He slightly tilted his head as she faced him.

"Why would I do that... plus it seemed like you were talking with your mom about things. And it's impolite to just walk in like I own the place..." Ivy stared at him, making him sigh. "Oh you could've just gone inside, sweetie! I wouldn't mind!" The two jolted as Gene held Ivy's shoulder protectively, turning to see that it was his mother. "Mom?!" Gene uttered, moving away from Ivy who soon stood.

"Oh, are you his classmate? I wasn't sure if I could tell you to go inside since you came with him last night." Ivy slightly blushed as she smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Denevell. I'm Ivy Collins, Gene's... friend." She shook hands with the older one.

Maria smiled as she gave a secretice gaze to her son, making her usher the younger inside as Gene felt flustered by the accusing gaze given by the parent.
