At home I carefully examined the book, flipping it over to read the name 'El-Wyn' inscribed on the back cover as I delved deeper into the pages of the book, my mind raced with a mix of emotions, I ran through the pages trying to hold my nerves and stay calm, wondering if all of that was a joke. The first ten pages were filled with tales of pain and fear, recounted by the citizens of Lazerat.

Each account was more chilling than the last, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as I read. The eleventh page was a revelation, entitled "A Testimony by Me, Mr. Elwyn." The next nine pages were a firsthand account from the great magician himself, confirming the rumors of eerie sounds and ghostly apparitions that had been whispered about for years. Elwyn's words were detailed and descriptive, painting a vivid picture of the eerie and unsettling experiences he had encountered in Lazerat. He spoke of the female figure that appeared at night, and how her presence was both terrifying and intriguing. He also described the screams and voices that begged him to leave the city.

As I continued to read, I couldn't rid myself of the sensation that Elwyn had truly witnessed something supernatural, and that his quest for knowledge and power had led him down a dark and dangerous path.

The twentieth page of the book was titled "The Burnt House". El-Wyn had taken over two years to write about it. From what I could gather, it seemed that all the evidence suggested that Maya - the nine-year-old girl who was said to be able to contact ghosts and summon demons - had been burnt to death in that house. The female figure that many people had reported seeing at night, El-Wyn speculated, may have been her spirit.

The next page was written a year later, in which El-Wyn wrote about collecting wood from the burnt house and discovering a skull beneath the ruins. According to his theories, Maya wasn't a witch, but rather a human portal - the first of her kind. He believed that if his research was successful, he could recreate and control the portal.
