The horrors of the night before still hung heavy in the air. Mara had spoken to Hermoine about it in the morning. Mara couldn't get the three-headed dog out of her mind, let alone the wooden trapdoor.

"What do you think it is?" Mara asked her.

"What's what?" Hermoine asked, too distracted with her homework.

"The dog," Mara whispered turning fully towards her. "What do you think it's guarding?"

Hermoine sighed, snapping her book shut.

"Leave it be!" Hermoine commanded Mara, "We could've gotten expelled and you want to know what it's guarding?"

Mara opened and closed her mouth like a fish, not knowing what to say. She wasn't used to people being angry at her. Eventually, Mara just shut her mouth and turned back towards her food.

Hermoine sighed once again. She grabbed all her homework in her arms and turned to leave the Great Hall.

The two girls hadn't made up when their charms class had started. Mara sat in between Seamus and Harry. Next to Harry sat Ron and Hermoine.

She leaned back in her seat as she watched her professor explain the lesson. Professor Flitwick was a small teacher who needed to stand on a stack of several books to be able to look over his desk. On their first day, the professor made the entire class laugh. While reading the class list, he stumbled over Harry's name and fell backwards off of his stack of books. Flitwick had quickly become one of Mara's favourite teachers.

They were going to learn how to make objects levitate. In front of each student was a big white feather.

"Wingardium Leviosa," Mara pronounced clearly, flicking and swishing her wand. To her surprise, the feather slowly started to rise in the air.

"Well done," Flitwick clapped in his hands, "Look everyone, Mrs Lee is making her feather levitate."

The whole class looked at her surprised, from somewhere to her right she heard a scoff coming from Hermoine. Mara's smile dropped at the sound. Hermoine was apparently really angry at her.
