*KALANII'S POV*

I wake up to a huge arm slung over my body. The scent of pinecones and mint flood my nose. Oh. Its Jake. I ever so slightly remove his arm from my body. Ugh why is he so heavy? Just as I'm about to leave his room he turns over wide awake.

"Lanii, goodmorning." He says with a wide smile. Last night was a blur. I remember waiting for Jake in the living room with Embry, until his mom called him home. He wanted to hang out by the beach today. That sounds better than having to wait for Sam to stop working Jake so hard.

"Jake, why do you let Sam push you around, and since when is he your friend? I thought you hated him.." I say sitting at the foot of his bed. He gives me a puzzled look then takes a deep breathe.

"Kalanii it's really none of your business what I do. Sam was there for me when I needed help. You werent here so you wouldn't know, would you?" He snaps back. Wow, what is Sam doing to him?

"You know what. I'm leaving, so much for connecting with you again. I'm glad I left Forks." I say crying to him. Who does he think he is? I was always there for him, even when I was in Hawaii.

I run out of his house down towards the beach. Its the only place I like here, besides Jake's house. Embry sees me and I instantly regret coming here.

"Kalanii? Hey, what's wrong?" He says a little concerned.

"Nothing, I'm okay." I say wiping the last of my tears. I didn't want to tell him that Jake practically ripped my heart into millions of pieces.

"I'm always here if you need someone to talk to Kalanii." He says pulling me into a hug. He is so sweet.

"Can we walk along the beach?" I ask Embry. Walking on the beach has always been my stress reliever.

"Sure we can." He chimes, standing up and taking my hand. Embry doesn't seem that much older than I am. Maybe 19 years old, tops. His rough features on his face make him seem like hes 25. Jake has always been older than me. Hes 21 now. Time sure does fly by when you're not at home.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Embry says turning towards me.

"Yeah, of course." I reply back.

"There's this beach party tonight that Leah Clearwater is having and I wanted to know if you would be my date." He says shyly. Wow, Leah Clearwater. I haven't heard that name in years.

"Sure. Ill go with you." I reply with a smile. His eyes light up and he has the biggest smile on his face.

"Well I'll walk you home so you can get ready. Ill be here at around 8 tonight to pick you up." He says walking towards my house.

"Sounds great." I reply with a smile. Ive never been to a 'party' before, so I have no idea what to wear. Well, it is a beach party, I might have a few things I picked up in Hawaii.

Embry and I reach my house in about 15 minutes. I grab my keys from my purse. As I go to unlock the door Embry stops me.

"Oh yeah I forgot. " he says pulling me into a kiss. As he breaks it I look up and notice Jacob turning around on his way back home. Did he come to apologize or rub in my face how much I hurt him when I was forced to move? Whatever the case is, I didn't want to hear it.

"Well, I gotta go so I can get ready. Bye Kalanii." Embry says sprinting down the road. I open my front door and find my mother in the kitchen.

"Mom, Leah Clearwater is having a beach party tonight. Can I go?" I ask practically begging.

"Who are you going with?" She replies.

"Embry Call." I tell her biting my lip. She turns to me and has a surprised look on her face.

"Well, I thought you would be going with Jacob, but okay sure. Be back before 1 Kalanii." She says in her motherly tone. When she mentioned Jake I tensed up. I don't want anything to do with Jake tonight. Embry is my date, and ill be damned if I dont have a fun time.
