3rd pov: Junghee

(bold is sign language)

Cho Junghee went out of her room. Horror filled her face when she saw her mom laying down on the floor uncouincous. She ran over to her mom and shook her to wake her up. Her mom was still uncouincous.

Junghee grabbed the phone and called after help. Someone answered and asked Junghee what her emergency was. Junghee didn't say much. She only said her address and 'help my mom, please!'

They quickly came and drove bothe Junghee and her mom to the hospital. Junghee was extra worried. Her mom hadn't been feeling well recently. Well, that wasn''t the case if you asked her mom.

She would always say she was fine, even though she got nosebleeds frequently and was tired all the time. Her mom never wanted to visit a doctor. She said it was a waste of money when she was fine.

They didn't have much money to do with. It was hard for Junghee's mom to get a good paying job. There was no father figure in the house. He left even before Junghee's mom got to say she was pregnant.

Junghee was sitting outside her mom's hospital room.  A doctor approached her. The doctor looked to be in his mid 40's.

"You must be Cho Minso's daughter. We are currently still running some tests on her. Have you noticed anything recently or something?" Junghee's palms started to get sweaty as she was asked a question, she had to answer.

"Deaf, nosebleeds, tired." She was fridgeling with her fingers as the three words escaped her mouth. She wasn't used to speaking. She pretty much only did sign language, with her mother. It's not like she had others to talk to.

She was a quiet person. She never went to school. Junghee's mom had ocationly home schooled her. Junghee also never went outside where there were other people. Her mom would be the one grocery shopping.

"Deaf? Has she always been?" Junghee nodded.

"I see~... I assume you know sign language to communicate. " Junghee once again nodded. It was her favorite way of communicating with people who could hear and talk. Her mother could say a bit. It wasn't much, though.

Junghee had to learn how to speak through youtube and TV.  She wasn't confident in her pronounciation. She never had someone to talk to.

"When she wakes up, would you like to translate for us?" A third nod was earned from Junghee.  The doctor went back. She continued to wait for her mother to wake up. The doctor came out again.

"She's awake again. You can come inside. We also have some results." Junghee couldn't help but smile as she finally saw her mom being awake once again. Her mother gave her a smile back.

"So i wish i could say i have some good news, but i don't." The smile from Junghee's face quickly faded as she heard the doctors words. The doctor advised me to take a seat. Junghee sat down at the end of her mom's bed.

"She has been diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia, with a high risk... She has had this for a while. It's quite far. The chances aren't that high... There's not much we can do." She froze. She didn't know what to say or do.

"Darling, what's wrong? What did he say?" Her mom said in sign language. Junghee finally ot herself together again. She had no idea how to translate it.

"You're very sick. Terminal cancer." Her mom's face saddened as she looked at Junghee. She could tell how Junghee felt. It was understandable. Most people wouldn't be happy to hear that their mom had a kind of cancer.

"Let's just go home."

"Home? Mom, you are very sick. You can't be home. You have to stay here. " Her mother wasn't impressed by her daughter's words. If there was one thing her mom hated, it was the hospital.

"We advise you to stay for further examination," the doctor said.

"I'm not staying here. I'm gonna be home with you. If i have to die, then it has to be with you on my side 24/7" The words of her mother pierced through Junghee. She was both happy and sad at the same time.

She wanted her mom to stay at the hospital for examination and even treatment like the doctor said. But she couldn't help but be touched by the fact her mom wanted to be with her till her last days.

"What is she saying?"

"Home until death." Junghee never spoke in long sentences. What was the point when she would pronounce half of it wrong anyway? The doctoe seemed to be surprised. It took a lot to convince the doctor to let Junghee's mother stay at home.

After some discussion, the doctor agreed. Junghee was advised to let her mother rest as much as possible. She shouldn't be too hard on herself, or else it will get worse way quicker. The two of them came back home.

Junghee emidiatly forced her mother to stay in bed. Junghee opened the window to get some fresh air into her mother's room. Their cat berry came into the room. She picked up the cat and put it on her mother's lap.

"Give Berry a lot of love. I read that cats are good for your health."  She looked at her mom smiling while petting their cat. Their cat was an indoors cat.  It didn't take long before the cat noticed the open window.  She quickly jumped out of the window and down to the street.

The both of them panicked. Junghee told her mother to stay. She hurried and put her shoes on and ran out to the street to find the cat. She couldn't see it. Fuck she thought. Junghee looked around for ages. Just as she was about to give up she saw a tail poking out from a bush.

She ran over to the bush. She shouldn't have. It scared her cat. The cat ran away once again. Junghee continued to run after it. She hadn't had this much exercise in a long time. She ended up in the park.

She saw children playin on the playground, people having a picnic and a large group of guys playing footvolley. Junghee didn't know much about ball games. She only knew that game from videos of a kpop group called Twenty, that she listenes to from time to time. They had played it a lot.

The group of guys seemed to be around her age. They had the uniform of the local school. Her mind went back to her actual mission. Catching her cat was the only important matter right now. She searched the whole park. The cat came wlking over to her as she had sat down on a bench after giving up.

Junghee was slighly pissed at the cat. She had just searched all over the place but couldn't find her cat. But just as soon as she sat down it came wlaking over to her? That was so unfair.

She sighed and picked up her cat and started to pet it and showing it a heck load of love. She couldn't help it. She loved the cat regardless. The cat soon jumped out of her arms, as Junghee got starteled by the ball that hit the  back of her head.

She glanced back and saw the group of boys looking at her. She quickly chased after her cat again as she heard some of the boys yelling sorry. Junghee didn't care about their sorry. She just cared about her cat.
