The official licks their lips nervously and look around to see if the way to the door is blocked or not and they start to edge backwards. This all came about because they thought that now that Jessa is no longer pregnant and they thought the eggs had also hatched and that it would be safe to start bringing in some petty grievances to the king and queen once more.
"I don't think so, Graveson. Be a man and stand your ground. Just wait while I have my guard bring in the one you are accusing of such wrong doing. Then we'll have the two of you talk things out like the adults you supposedly are." Jessa purrs at the nervous man.
"Really, you majesty, that won't be necessary at this time. I'm sure that my counterpart and I can come up with an acceptable compromise." By now the official is beginning to sweat.
Jessa watches intently, she had heard the lying words of the man before her and wanted to see what it would take before he breaks down and tells them the truth. She smiles nastily as the elf's clothes start to become sweat stained.
"Oh, dear, it seems that you could use some liquid refreshment. We wouldn't want you to become ill." Jessa says with fake horror before turning to one of the guard.
"Have a servant bring Graveson some chilled wine. He's becoming decidedly red and sweating profusely. Perhaps you should have Jenna come check him out. It wouldn't do to have him become ill while he's before us."
"As you wish," Cynthia, one of the few females that guard Jessa says smirking at the nearly prostrate elf before her before sauntering to the door and sending for the requested items.
Jessa doesn't like the way the female guard is acting and once court is finished for the day, which happened after the nervous elf passes out shortly after, Jessa talks to Cynthia.
"Cynthia, I accepted you on my team because you earned it. Is there a reason why you are acting like this now?" Jessa says more than a little irritated. She doesn't like it when she is forced to turn back to her human form and leave her clutch. She knows that Kristoff will protect the eggs with his life but she still doesn't like being away from them. They are close to hatching which makes it even harder for her to deal with her duties.
She growls lowly at the reason she is here and not Dhiren.
Those damn fools. If they make it so Dhiren isn't here to see the first hatching she'll make sure that they regret it for the rest of their very short lives.
"You should calm down love. You have half of the palace too terrified to do their jobs and the others are just looking for whatever excuse they can find to look for jobs elsewhere." Dhiren tells her and pulls her into his arms.
Immediately Jessa relaxes back against Dhiren. "The idiots are taken care of?" Jessa asks closing her eyes.
"Yeah, it's amazing just how quickly they were willing to compromise and deal with things once I mentioned what you would do if you were forced to come. Then I told them what would happen if I missed the entrance of our dragonlings and how you would react to that. They stayed up all night hashing things out and couldn't wait for the ink to dry before sending me on my way."
Dhiren chuckles at the memory. He hadn't been upset with their reactions, he was more than a little pleased by it. He hadn't liked having to leave Silva to deal with the human kings and their issues.
They apparently hadn't wanted to deal with an upset Jessa either.
"My queen, I was only acting as I did because he was being disrespectful to you." Cynthia once more brings Jessa's attention once more to her. At Jessa's look she wishes she hadn't.
"In what way, Cynthia?" Jessa purrs to her elite guard.
"By obviously lying to you and bringing such pettiness before you." Cynthia replies.
Jessa raises an eyebrow at this. "You could tell that he was lying?" Jessa could of course, but most of the elves wouldn't have been able to do so. This makes Jessa smile which in turn makes Cynthia nervous.
Cynthia nods and Jessa continues thoughtfully, "I see. Keep the attitude in check, Cynthia, it takes away my fun if they start behaving themselves appropriately."
Dhiren chuckles at the shocked look Cynthia gives back to her rulers.
"You better dismiss her before you shock her unconscious love." Dhiren tells Jessa still chuckling.
Jessa does so and turns back to Dhiren and demands to know about his little trip.
"The treaties are all in place, the borders are all secured and the remaining dragon kin are being hunted?" Jessa demands closing her eyes and letting her own smile out.
"Yes, they weren't happy about having to deal with the dragon kin on their own though."
Jessa tenses up at that and responds angrily, "I with the assistance of you and our guards have taken out the majority of them. WE are the ones that took out the full blooded dragons. They haven't had to deal with hardly any of the mess and they are complaining about what they do have to do?"
"Peace, Love. I talked to them and warned them that you wouldn't like their attitude about them doing some of the work. Then I reminded them just what you did do on their behalf and the price you and those with you paid."
Jessa freezes at the reminder that the fight had cost her. Not all of her guard survived, but those that did died saving her life and Dhiren's life. They were given great honor in their send off and Zira herself came to collect their souls.
Sorsha didn't die, but she was wounded and it was only her being blood bonded with Jessa that she survived. Although Jessa hated to lose her, Sorsha realized that she could no longer continue as Jessa's guard and retired once she regained her health.
Sorsha moved to the new Sun elf city and is now promised to Dennis. They have arrangements that her children will be sent to Jessa for training once they reach the appropriate age. They will be allowed to visit their mother and soon to be step father, (Dennis is entranced with the twins), and are assured that their mother and step father will visit them often as well.
Jessa rather suspects that Sorsha will start their training long before they are sent to her. Sorsha is well aware of what will likely happen to her children if they aren't at least somewhat prepared.
"Dhiren, I had that official just about soiling himself. Why was I dealing with him again?" Jessa demands coming back to the present.
"Because, you had no wish to be that far away from our eggs and dealing with the humans." Jessa narrows her eyes.
"Yes, but just why did they need one of us there and not just have our emissary deal with it?"
"I think they wanted one of the war heroes there to show off to the people." Dhiren says as he nuzzles his angry queen.
"Jessa, Dhiren, the eggs are starting to hatch," Mel makes a startling appearance out of nowhere as he gives his message.
Dhiren immediately stops his nuzzling and they go to the balcony to change to their dragon forms so they can fly to their clutch.
