My eyes snap open immediately. A cold sweat has broken out on my forehead and my palms. For the second time in a row,I am welcomed by the one boy that seems to care about me. Newt. He is standing at the other end of my hammock, leaning against the tree, totally oblivious to the fact that I am awake."What are you doing here?" I hiss at him. At my words, he jumps back, then has to steady himself in order to not alert everyone.
"Ummm..... It doesn't matter." He stutters."Why are you awake?"
"It's not your problem."I reply.
"You had a nightmare, didn't you." He mutters. I answer with a nod. With a concerned look on his face, he tiptoes towards me. "Do you want to talk about it?" I nod again.
"First of all, the doors hadn't closed and we could see all the grievers pouring out." I knew about the monstrous beasts because Chuck had told me earlier."People were being thrown about like rag dolls and it was horrible. So most of us ran into the gathering room. However, we could hear a griever outside. It reached in and got Chuck, but we managed to save him. Well, it was Alby who saved him really."
"So what happened that was so bad?"
"Alby was caught. And.....he died."
"It's okay. It was just a nightmare."
"But it just seemed so real!" Tears start streaming down my face. At this, Newt sits down at the end of my bed, so I swivel round to sit up.
"Don't worry Netty, I'll be here." I rest my head on his shoulder and gently shut my eyes.
"Forever?"
"Forever."
