Jay remembers the sunset.
When Kai saved Nya, the sun was setting across the horizons. It was beautiful. He wanted to tell her.
With Nya's death, it was different. Her water-like form broke the sunset.
"Tell my mother that I know what the cookie crumbles means." Nya said.
Jay couldn't hear anything after that. She's gonna leave.
She's gonna leave.
She's gonna leave.
SHE'S GONNA LEAVE.
"Nya! Come back!"
Jay shot up from his bed. He can't breathe. He can feel the bed move slightly. He know's it's Nya. She's safe. He's safe.
He gripped the bedsheets, trying to unclech them.
Everyone's safe.
He has been having that reoccurring nightmares.
He looked at the clock. 5:44.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Nya whisperered softly as she set her hand on his back.
Jay swollowed thickly as he shook his head, taking deep breaths.
But his mind deattached. He didn't know what was real or right. He was away from his body, mind, spirit. Everything. Then everything came back for who knows how long.
Nya rubbed his back slowly, an anchor for Jay to grab onto.
Jay blinked out the tears from his eyes and sighed.
"Hey..." Nya said. "You back?"
Jay nodded. He moved slightly and buried his head in her chest, feeling warm arms wrap around him.
"It's ok..." She whispered, raking her nails gently against his back. He relaxed under the touch. Jay was never usually used to it. She doesn't show affection towards him during anything. Until they're alone.
But he guesses that's ok. He told her the dream.
"I'm here." She repeated.
Jay saw the sun. No, it wasn't setting. It was rising.
A new dawn.
