Nightmares

A couple days later.
Jay's POV:
I'm woken up at 230am to a little girl beside me, in tears. Aubrey. I sit up.
"Breyberry, what's up possum?" I ask
"I had scawy dweem!" She sobs
"Come here baby." I sigh and slide out of bed.
I lift her up and pace softly with her.
"Baby?" Hailey yawns
"Hey hon, Brey had a bad dream." I sigh
"Let her lie down between us. Sleep." Hailey pats the bed.
I smile softly and lay Aubrey between us and slide in beside her. We fall back asleep. We wake up in the morning. I hold Aubrey on my lap.
"Berry, can you tell daddy and mommy about your dream please?" I ask her
She nods, "it was about mr Jake."
"Who's that baby?" Hailey asks
"Lucy's old special friend." Aubrey whispers
"Did he hurt you bubba?" I ask
She cries a little, "he touched me."
"Can you point to where he touched you on you or mommy?" I ask gently
She points to Haileys backside and in between her legs.
"Oh my gosh," hailey sighs, "did he touch sissy too?"
She shakes her head. I hold Aubrey to my chest.
"It's okay baby girl!" I kiss her head.
"We're gonna go to hank okay? He's gonna help get Mr Jake in jail cause he did a really bad thing!" Hailey smiles
"Otay!" Aubrey smiles, "can you help me get dwessed? Mommy?"
Hailey nods and takes Brey to her and Lilacs room. I get up and dressed before heading into Rubys room.
"Ruby Marley, time to wake up baby girl." I murmur
"Okay!" She sits up, "why?"
"We're gonna go see uncle hank, we need to sort something out with your sisters." I exclaim, "can you get dressed? Do you want to wear your creature dress and black jacket?"
She nods and gets out of bed. I get it out of her cupboard. (See above.) I pass it to her and leave. I walk downstairs and see Hailey getting the girls' shoes on for them. Ruby runs down. She trips on the last step. She chuckles softly and gets up.
"You ok?" I ask
She nods, laughing. I chuckle as Brey runs to me and I lift her up. We all head out to the car. Me and Hailey buckle in the twins whilst Ruby buckles herself in. I drive us to 21. We get everyone out. Brey refuses to walk so I carry her. Ruby holds Lilacs hand.
"Daddy? Why we here?" Lilac asks
"Cause we need to do something ok munchkin?" I smile
She nods. We walk up into the lobby.
"It's the Halstead Family!" Trudy exclaims sarcastically
"Hi Auntwy Twudy!" Lilac smiles
"Hey princess!" Trudy replies and we all head upstairs.
"Gwampa Hank!" Lilac runs for Voight
"Hey Lilac! Halstead! What are you all doing here?" Voight asks
"Rubs, take Lilac into the break room." I tell her
She takes her sister away. I hold Brey.
"Uh, Berry had a bad dream last night. It's about Lucy's old partner. His name was Jake. He made the twins call him Mr Jake. And uh. He would touch Brey down below." I sigh
"Alright," Voight sighs
"Dad, can I have your phone please?" Ruby comes out
"Not right now." I reply
"But Dadddd!" She groans
"Ruby Marley Halstead. I said No!" I tell her
She sighs and walks back into the breakroom.
"Atwater, Ruzek, go to Cook County, get his name off Denville!" Voight orders
They nod, grab their jackets and leave. I keep Brey on me. Around an hour later, I get a text from Atwater.
"Jake Moore!" I exclaim, "Atwater and Ruzek are gonna pick him up!"
Brey starts crying.
"Berryboo? What is it?" I ask
"Dats him!" She cries
"Okay bubba!" I pace around and she calms down.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Voight smile.
"Halstead, you got a soft spot now huh?" Voight asks
"Says you, I saw you smile!" I chuckle
He shrugs and walks back in his office. I kiss Brey's head. Soon Atwater and Ruzek pull Jake upstairs.
"Awww, little Aubreybear!" Jake smirks, "did you tell them about our fun you little rat?"
Aubrey screams and bursts into tears. Atwater goes to pull Jake into the hallway to the interrogation rooms. Voight walks out.
"Cage!" He orders and Atwater nods.
I rub Aubrey's back softly and pace.
"Sshhhhh! Shhhh!" I soothe
She continues crying. I go to my second option.
"Let's go on a walk bubbaboo!" I kiss her head as we walk downstairs.
I walk out the front of the district and walk around with Brey. It is when I heard it.
*BANG!*
The unmistakable gunshot noise. I feel pain rip through the right side of my chest. I fall to the ground.
"Daddy!" Aubrey cries
"Go run inside. Get Auntie...Trudy." I cough
She nods and runs inside. I close my eyes.

Platt's POV:
I am working at my desk when I see Aubrey run inside, covered in blood.
"Aubrey!" I gasp and run around to her
"Daddy got hurt!" She grabs my hand
I follow her and see Halstead lying in a puddle of blood.
"Oh my god!" I run over, pulling off my jacket.
I press it on the wound. I grab my radio
"DS21! I need an ambulance to the east side of the district, on the pavement. Officer shot!" I speak into my radio, applying the pressure.
"Copy that DS21! Ambulance on its way!" The dispatch worker replies
"Aubby, hold this really tight!" I tell her and she nods, doing so.
I run in the back. I see Voight and Upton walk down.
"Hank, Halstead has been shot!" I pant
"Oh my god!" Upton gasps and runs out.
I follow her and see her bending down beside her husband. The ambulance pulls in. 61! Dawson and Brett run over with the gurney.
"Bullet in right chest!" I tell them, visibly shaking
"Ok Sarge," Dawson gently replies, "I texted mouch like 2 seconds ago. He's on his way!"
"Okay!" I sigh as Hailey lifts Aubrey up.
"Upton, go get the others," Voight exclaims, "I will go with Halstead!"
Hailey nods and run upstairs to alert the others!
"Trudy!" I turn to see Randy
"Randy!" We hug and he kisses my head
"Your ok!" He soothes
I gently stop shaking
"Alright, who's riding?" Brett asks
Voight jogs over. They leave. I sigh and then Mouch tells me he has to go. Hailey and everyone else runs down to their cars to drive to the hospital. I get in mine. I drive to the hospital.

~~a few hours later~~ Upton's POV:
Dr Marcel walks out. I immediately stand up.
"He is okay. It did pierce his lung but it is repaired and he is awake." Dr Marcel tells us gently, "Family can see him."
I nod and turn, "Girls come on."
They run over and Aubrey reaches up for me. I lift her up and we follow Dr. Marcel. He leads us to a room. I see Jay on the bed.
"Daddy!" The other girls run for him and I carry Brey over. She reaches for jay.
"Daddy!" She whispers
"Hey baby girl." Jay pats the bed beside him and I lay Aubrey down.
"You scared me so bad baby!" I kiss his head
"I'm sorry Hailey, did you get the shooter?" He asks
I shake my head, "No, the others are here,"
"They can come in." Jay whispers
I nod and text Voight. Soon, they all come up.
"Hey guys." Jay sighs
"Hey Dawg, you okay?" Atwater smiles
Jay nods. I run my fingers through his hair. He chuckles softly. Soon it's time to go so i take the kids home.
