Tʜᴇ sᴜɴ ᴡᴀs close to setting over the barren landscape, casting a foreboding shadow over the abandoned village and its crumbling buildings. The lingering smell of rot and decay filled the air as the survivors huddled together in the ruins, holding their breath in fear as they tried to conceal themselves from the incoming infected. Even the faintest sound felt deafening in the tense and solemn atmosphere, and a sense of dread and suspense hung heavy in the air.
As they trudged through the village they saw a castle in the distance. A large, eerie castle.
"Perfect," Otto spoke quietly; his voice smooth and close to silent.
Otto and Vivian were to be betrothed prior to the plague but, neither of them wanted to be married and it was the perfect opportunity. If she was to pick one good thing from the morbus, she would have to say all of the things she missed. Her family was very strict in telling her to behave in front of rich men. That was their goal for her. Not success, because that would be absurd.
As they approached the castle Vivian spoke.
"Are you sure about this?" She said; her cotton dress falling below her knees.
"Do we really have any other option?" Otto remarked, gesturing to the herd of rotters behind them. "Rotters" is a word they came up with when the plague started.
Vivian sighs.
"I suppose not."

Sorry for the short chapter, I have some school shit going on so I may not update for a few days. If I do, I either worked my ass off or you guys got lucky and I had some free time.
Lmfao.
As for feedback. I'm not a new writer but Gothic literature is pretty new to me. Any feedback helps.
As always and forever, thank you for reading. If you like my story, don't be afraid to vote. It takes a second or less and it helps me a lot.
