The next hour seemed to pass in a blur as Percy and his mother quietly listened to Albus catch them up on everything that had recently happened in the wizarding world. Percy noticed his mom was unusually tense throughout it all, especially when Tom and his alter ego Voldemort were brought up in the conversation. By the end, Percy had a full history on how Tom became Voldemort, the prophecy that led him to kill Lily and James Potter in an attempt to keep it from coming true, how 'The Boy Who Lived' came to learn he was a wizard. He learned of Harry and his friends' many adventures with the sorcerer's stone, the chamber of secrets, reuniting with Harry's godfather and learning the truth about his arrest, and the TriWizard Tournament. Percy's heart sunk a little hearing about Cedric's death and he saw red for a moment when he learned the Ministry of Magic didn't believe them about Voldemort's return.

Finally Albus talked the Order and what Percy would hopefully be helping with. "It was first created when Voldemort was at his peak the first time. It disbanded when we thought Voldemort had died. But now that we know he's back and is still an active threat, the Order has reunited. We'd kept it a secret from Harry until more recently - we didn't want him to get stressed about our theories and fears. Unfortunately we can't hide all of this any longer, and after the TriWizard Tournament we realized we need to build a better guard around him. My ask is for you to join the Order and help protect Harry."

Percy took a moment to process everything the old man-wizard had said. "But why me? You could just get more wizards to guard him. I'm just a demigod. I won't really be able to get close enough to slash some evil wizards with my sword if they're casting spells from afar."

Suddenly Sally choked back a sob and understanding dawned on him. He'd started to guess from the start of the conversation but Sally's current posture confirmed what he'd been fearing. "Mom, are you a witch?"

His mom had tears in her eyes as she looked up at him. "You have to understand, Percy. I never wanted this life for you."

"How could I not have known till now? Shouldn't I have noticed some of those magical tendencies by now?"

Chiron moved forward a bit as he spoke, "I'm sure you have shown some of your wizard tendencies till now, but it was likely masked under your other abilities from your father's side. Wizards and demigods have always walked similar paths and worked to protect themselves from similar dangers. As you might remember from our first conversation about this, wizards and witches exist because of Hecate's blessings. Their magic is akin to the gods' powers and your other abilities."

Percy paused for a moment, still trying to process everything. "But I would have still gotten a letter at 11 right? That should have come before I found out I was a demigod so why didn't I go to this school?"

Sally finally stood to get closer to her son and hope he'd fully understand. "A letter did arrive - it came while you were still in school. But I couldn't send you there. It would have been too far away and your father was still trying to convince me to send you here full-time instead. All I wanted was to keep you close to me and protect you as best as I could."

"Why didn't you tell me the truth though? You should have told me I was a wizard."

"Percy, you have to understand. There's great darkness surrounding the wizarding world because of my--because of Voldemort and his choices and decisions. I didn't want you to grow up in an environment filled with war and mayhem. Of course the Fates put you through that anyways. All I wanted to do was protect you."

"But that wasn't a decision for you to make. I should have decided if I wanted to be a part of that world or not. You should have told me, especially after I learned about the Greek gods and this world."
