Y/n POV:

I woke up today, feeling as fresh as every day.

I changed into my hakama, kimono and haori, along with my geta and tabi.

I took my sword with me as well.

The walk to Caiyi town was merely fifteen minutes.

I found a bookstore in five minutes.

I bought a few books on history and culture of clans, and one book about 5000 pages thick, about spiritual cultivation.

5000 pages are no problem for me.

Nothing here, except for oni, is.

I noticed some strangers giving me weird looks.

It's probably because of my clothes.

Or my height.

Maybe my sword.

Or maybe all of them are thinking about different things about me.

It doesn't matter though.

Nobody's opinion on me matters.

After all, they were just more strangers.

People, who don't know me enough yo have a problem with me.

I went back to my estate.

I started reading the book about spiritual cultivation.

It's weird.

I'm reading a book, that I wasn't interested in.

Besides, I don't even have a golden core, so I can't do spiritual cultivation.

But I need to know more about this place.

I learned about the history of some cultivation clans.

Jiang clan of Yunmeng.

Lan clan of Gusu.

Jin clan of Lanling.

Nie clan of Qinghe.

And Wen clan of Qishan.

From what I learned, the Wen clan is definitely the most powerful.

The most likely to cause a war.

War.

I need to stay out of contact with it.

I live very close to Gusu, so there's no avoiding them.

But they seem friendly.

I'll still be careful.

Maybe I should attend those annual lectures, that people spoke of.

Yeah, I'll do that.

It's a good idea for first direct contact with the clans.

I'll establish some sort of idea of their customs.

Yeah, I should.

But I'll have to study.

And be well-mannered.

Well, it'll be good practice for motivation.

And I'll have something to do.

But how do I sign up?

Hmm. Maybe a letter?

Yeah, I'll write a letter.

I get paper, ink and a brush, as I sit down at the table gently detaching the books I was reading on the side, as I start writing, the letter.

"Dear Grandmaster Lan"

"I hope this letter finds you in good health and mind."

"I'm writing you this letter, because I hope to attend the annual lectures, that you are hosting in Cloud Recess. I, personally, was really interested in them and would like to take part in finding out more about the history qnd present culture of Gusu Lan clan."

"I would appreciate it to the fullest, if you allowed me to take part I this yearly tradition."

"Sincerely, 阴 正义 ."

"Caiyi town."

I finished writing the letter, leaving the ink to dry, putting the brush down.

I stood up and walked to the open window, before whistling in a medium loud pitch.

First, came the sound of flapping wings, then came the sound of cawing.
In flew a raven, seemingly in good health, as it landed on the windowsill, as it eyed me with curiosity.

"There you are, 斑鳩(Ikaru: the raven's name)."

I went back to the table and took the letter I wrote, folding it neatly, before handing it to the raven, as it took the letter with it's beek. I gently patted it's small head, before it flew off again.

I wondered if I would be accepted.

Well, if I won't be accepted, it won't really matter, since these lectures aren't fully necessary.

I decide to end the day with a simple stroll along the mountains. I came back and went to my office, taking the books I was reading from before, before going to my room. I changed into my yukata and layer down on my stomach, taking one of the books and continuing to read.

By the time I was finished with all of them, it was way past midnight.

I'm going to start patrol at the first rumors or discovery. I shouldn't waste energy on pointless things.

I decide in my mind.

I eventually close my eyes, as I ener a peaceful slumber.

A truly peaceful one.
