Chapter I - Adam's familyFirst things first. Dress for yourself, not to impress. That dinner would be the cause of my death! Adam and I would be a week or so tomorrow! But damn, he already want to intruduce me to his family! Seriously, I can't face them this early! What if I embarass Adam? What if his family does not like me?
Yeah right. I know it's sweet because he already want his family to know about me. He already want me to be a part of his family! Damn! It's frustrating!
"He's already here! Don't make Adam wait!" Sydney-my cousin enteruped my monologue and knocked on my door like she wants to wreck it.
"Just give me a minute!" I looked at myself in the full-length mirror again for the nth time. I hand comb my curly hair, pulled the hem of my plum dress, and finalized it with a touch of my Nars lipstick that has the same color of ripped grapes.
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. I closed my eyes and predict of what will happen later. His mother shouting at me because of the wine stain on their rug, his siblings glaring at me, and his whole family dislikes me.
I felt as if someone tugged me. I opened my eyes but I can't see anything. That's because you are buried in someone's chest you fool. I did not make any move. I want to savour the moment. Damn, I don't want him to let go.
I inhale his fresh manly scent and hug him in return. I know now who is this. My Adam. This is where I truly belong. In his clutch.
He placed his chin on the top of my head and whispered something, "If I just did not promised to my family, we can stay like this for the entire night." I smiled at the thought. Well, I want that too. So cliche but I kinda get used to that.
He tilted my chin so I can look at him straight in the eyes, "Brianna, you are perfect. You don't need to please them. They'll surely like you. You are truly a kind hearted person." He smiled at me sincerely and kissed my forehead.
"Truly?"
"Yes Brianna. Truly."
He raised his left hand. I put my right hand in it and intertwined our hands. We walk down the hallway with smile plastered on our faces.
"Bring her home before 11!" Sydney shouted at Adam before we exited the mansion. Adam gave her a thumbs up and a smile that's full of assurance.
Adam opened the door of the shotgun seat of his Red Porsche. He smiled at me as I enter his car. Hmm. I really love the strawberry smell of this car!
He immediately went on the driver's seat and fasten our seatbelts. He tooked my left hand and kissed the back of my palm.
"Ready to go?" I nodded at him and he start his engine. The car engine went wild.
The silence is killing me! I know Adam's nervous at the same time. Even though he's confident with me, I know deep inside he's unsure of what will his parents say.
True enough. Their family is prominent in the field of business. Who am I, right?
A typical 10th grader girl who became the Editor-in-Chief of your school newspaper, the Literary wizard since middle school, and the all time defending champion of *Schrizedean award.
Yeah right. I am trying to outshone myself again. Blah blah blah.
"Brianna. We're here." I looked at the rear view mirror. Yes. This is their mansion.
"I'm shy. No. I'm scared!" I heaed him chuckle and he kissed my forehead.
"Don't be. I am here right?"
I smiled at his last words. He opened his door then jumped out of his car. He then opened mine too.
He does not let go of my hand as we walk all through the way to their mansion.
Hooo! This is it! Man, I can already see the back of his family!
"Yey! Adam! Adam!" A little girl I guess who is in her 3 or 5 years approached us then hug one of Adam's legs. She's so pretty and pinky! Yes pinky. She's wearing different shades of pink from head to foot.
All of their attention diverted to us. They eyed me suspiciously. Everybody started to make their way to me. Damn! What to do!
I clung on one of Adam's shoulders and hide behind him. He chuckled and whispered something, "Hey. They don't bite. Hahaha."
Then a middle aged woman approached me. Damn, she's a goddess! I have'nt seen someone as dazzling as her.
"You must be Brianna Hepburn?" She gave me a sweet smile and I nodded inreturn.
"Yes madame." She laughed at me. Why is she laughing?
"Nah. Cut the formalities. Just call me Cynthia. I'm Adam's mom." She lift her hand as a gesture for me. I take it and we shaked hands! Haha.
Wait, she's Adam's mom? But she just look like she's in her mid-twenties! Well, nevermind. She looks kind and friendly!
I suddenly remembered Adam was still here. I looked at him and he shrugged.
"Let's go. You two might be hungry. I cooked Lasagna! Try it!" Cynthia held my waist as we walk through their corridors.
I can't stop the urge to laugh. I can feel butterflies in my stomach! Adam's mom isn't mean! She likes me! Yahoo!
Cynthia went to the kitchen to assist the servants. Adam pressed my cheeks and smiled sheepily at me.
"See? I told you she is kind." I smiled and hugged him in return.
"Thank you Adam!"
