50 grams....30 grams.... Ann woke up to a faint sound of a robotic voice coming from the kitchen. She rubbed her eyes lazily, and looked around. She noticed a little note left beside her with a smiley face; 😊Good Morning! Join me for breakfast! The sun light was pouring in from the high glass windows, and the city looked much more different in the morning, from up here. She made her way out, to the open kitchen, and was surprised to see Shivaay, jovially making breakfast. He was in a white cotton shirt, and denim pants, had a blue apron wrapped around his waist. Blue...matching his blue eyes....She shook her head bringing her wandering mind back to earth.
"Ah...You are up! Pancakes?" He smiled and placed a plate of fluffy pancakes with honey on the counter for her.
Her mouth watered at the smell of warm pancakes. Feeling famished, she took a bite. She widened her eyes and shook her head in disbelief. She wondered if there was anything that he couldn't do. Been able to see all her life, she could only fry an egg maybe. That also ended up burnt at times.
"Woah...This is really yummy and fluffy...Fluffy...So YUM...MMMmmmm..." She closed her eyes, enjoying her pancakes.
"Glad you like them! I'll make you french toast tomorrow..."
She raised an eyebrow looking at him. Did he say he'll make french toast for her tomorrow? Last time someone made breakfast for her was probably her mother, when she was about ten years old.
"Err...You don't have to...I mean...I..."
"Ann I always enjoy waking up early and making breakfast because rest of the day the meals will be delivered home. I have a meal plan with the hotel!" He switched off the stove, and pulled a stool opposite to her.
She observed the way he drizzled the honey and whip cream over his pancakes. He cut them in to perfect squares before taking a bite and took a big gulp from his hot chocolate. She started laughing out loud out of the blue.
"Err...Did you bite in to an egg shell or something? Sorry...Sometimes, I miss them..." He bit his lower lip, grinning.
"Naaa...Pancakes are perfect, it's just you've got a hot chocolate moustache...Haha" She giggled again.
"Oh I see...So you are laughing at my expense! I didn't pin you for a bully Mrs.Oberoi" He smirked and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"I never pinned you for a person who likes hot chocolate?" She added more honey to her pancakes.
"Ah well...Today felt like a sweet morning...Usually I'd do coffee...Would you like some? Or do you like tea?" He shrugged.
"Yeah I hate anything too sweet, or bitter...Tea is just perfect!" They both reached for the kettle at the same time, and their hands touched.
"Let me..." He smiled as she let go of the kettle swiftly. "So what plans for today?" He asked pouring the water into a mug with a tea bag.
Ann really didn't know. Every day her life had been abut surviving. Pulling out one job after another. Some days until the money last she didn't have to work at all. Some days if Daksh had lost all their money, she'd have to find a way to make ends meet. Saahil had a permanent room at Sacred Hearts, and his treatments were on going so she didn't have to worry about his meals, unless the bills were overdue.
They lived in the more shady part of the town, in the real world. Her grandmother left a small two storied apartment housing for her when she suddenly passed. She was just sixteen. When a distant relative, occupied the house by force, kicking her and Saahil out one stormy night, the only person she could turn to was Daksh. He had just run away from the military, at the age of nineteen, and he had just started living as a house guest downstairs. She recalled how he, dragged that ruthless relative by his hair and put a gun inside his mouth.
