Bad Dreams

Naruto awoke with a start, chest heaving and body coated in sweat in the dark of the night. A small groan came from his left as the light was turned on and the face of a tired looking woman with pale lavender eyes and dark purple hair. The woman,  Hyuga Hinata and now Uzumaki Hinata, had been woken up be her husbands sudden start and she looked at him softly before slowly sitting up.

"Naruto? What was your nightmare about?" She asked softly and his blue eyes focused on her as his eyebrows furrowed slightly in thought.

"That's the problem... I don't exactly remember." The man answered hand reaching up to ruffle his now much shorter blond hair. He could get a few small flashes of the dream, most of all he remembered the familiar tails, similar but not the same as Kuramas.

Now that he thought about it they looked scarily similar to Kichis. He shook his head as Hinata gave him a wary look before he coaxed her to go back to sleep and allow him to take a walk so that he could cool his head. She nodded, knowing that after the war he would have nightmares and would need his time to finally get tired enough to sleep again.

He gently kissed her forehead before leaving and taking off into the night through the window so as not to disrupt his sleeping children. He wondered how Kichi was doing, since she had disappeared almost immediately after the war was over. They got post cards from time to time and Ryuu's grave always had new flowers every month not to mention that she visited on the kids birthdays.

He remembered that Kichi had been positively erratic after he had stolen the scroll, with Iruka close behind they had been more than enough to hold off the traitor that was Mizuki. She had been gravely injured however before Iruka had arrived and if the other male hadn't come at the time he did then she most certainly would have died. The woman that Naruto had taken to calling his mother had been put into a medical coma for the next three weeks before she finally woke up and was allowed to leave.

Even though the food had been a little cold when they got back to the apartment it was nothing for Kichi who feed and then lectured him. She seemed relieved though and the first night that she had gotten back from the hospital she had held him close to her chest as they slept, as if afraid that he would disappear.

She had been excited that they had allowed him to graduate after realizing that he had learned and preformed the Jutsu that had carried her carefully to the hospital as Iruka explained the situation to the Hokage and the other villagers. A week or two later Kichi had her mind read by a family of blondes and it was shown that what he had said was true and Narutos graduation was finalized.

The following year after had been stressful on his mother figure. The Zabuza mission had her screaming but still understanding the bridge makers reasonings. The missions after that had been much happier with her practically smothering all of team 7 in protectiveness. She even smacked the emo sometimes when she saw him over thinking or thinking too darkly.

The chunin exams had been a practical walking heart attack mixed with multiple seizures for his mother figure. The forest of death had almost caused her to go to the hospital before the real chunin exam battles had even begun. The fights themselves had caused her to almost rip out Neejis throat for what he had done to not only his family but also to Naruto himself. Then the attack had happened and she had cried alongside everyone when the third had died.

It had been a surprise for everyone when she had allowed Naruto to leave with Jiraiya. The perverted man had not even dared to peep on her and had respected her for some reason. His training had still been hard to learn the fourths (later his fathers) techniques. The hiraishin along with the Rasengan had been perfect and he made sure to perfect the hiraishin later. Tsunade had been hard of course and the events played out with Naruto fighting against Orochimaru and his assistant from the Chunin exams.
