Martha

Aiden and I were deep in conversation about the recent Ministry elections, his animated gestures under the moonlight making me smile. Some minor ministry roles are getting re elected in January and debates are coming up soon.

Aiden Thornton is a multifaceted 16 year old boy, in the sense that his brain doesn't just revolve around quidditch and getting his dick wet. I actually liked talking to him—he had opinions and ideas that weren't just the usual Hogwarts gossip, and there was something refreshing about it. Besides, his TikTok-boy looks didn't hurt. He was charming, smart, and way too interested in me, which I'd be lying if I said I hated. Every girl likes to have her fair share of male attention, in a respectful manner of course, which Aiden follows strictly. He has never made a move, not once made me feel uncomfortable.

As we rounded the corner toward Gryffindor Tower, however, my pleasant night took a sudden nosedive. James and Nate stumbled into view, passing a flask back and forth, whispering and laughing in that conspiratorial way that made it obvious they were both absolutely wasted. Just brilliant.

"Oh, for Merlin's sake," I muttered, already dreading the conversation that was about to unfold.

Aiden raised his eyebrows, straightening up as if he were about to scold them right here. "Past curfew and... are they drinking? You've got to be kidding."

I rolled my eyes. "Unfortunately, no. Just... let me handle this, alright?"

"Handle what?" James's voice slurred out as he spotted me, his lips curling into a mischievous grin. He stumbled closer, his eyes lighting up like he'd just found his favorite prize. "Well, well, if it isn't my girl."

I shot him a warning look, but he was already reaching out, his hand grabbing my waist to pull me in close. "James, stop it. You're absolutely pissed." And I'm not his girl. Last I check we will fake break-up soon.

"Is it a crime to wanna be close to my girlfriend?" he asked, giving me a devilish wink and leaning down to brush his lips across my cheek, way too close to my neck. Just a little to the right- WHAT? No. "You smell so good. Remind me why we don't just go to bed right now?"

Aiden's jaw clenched as he glared at James, clearly not amused. "Potter, you're breaking curfew, and I think it's safe to assume you're both—" he shot Nate a look as Nate burst into uncontrollable laughter over absolutely nothing "—inebriated. That's twenty points from Gryffindor."

"Oh, no, no, no," Nate protested, leaning heavily on my shoulder and grinning at Aiden, flashing him a million dollar smile, you know the one who wins every girl over, but not Aiden. "We can't have that. Martha, c'mon, don't let the Hufflepuff Prefect kill our vibe!"

I looked between Aiden and my idiot of a twin, feeling my patience snap. "Aiden, you're really going to take points from us? Gryffindor points?"

Aiden folded his arms, giving me a pointed look. "I don't think you're being very fair, Martha. You're a prefect too—you know they need consequences. And they both need detention, minimum." Dude has a point. I know that. But also, Nate is my twin and I'll handle him. I'll fix this.

My eyes narrowed. "Detention? Aiden, really? You're giving my twin brother and my..." I faltered, "boyfriend detention?" Let's pretend I didn't call him boyfriend just now, I'll fix this shit later. I just need to save gryffindor from losing points recklessly right now.

James grinned, clearly catching the hesitation, but he was too wasted to fully capitalize on it. Instead, he wrapped an arm around my waist, nuzzling his head into my neck. "Tell him, angel. Tell him how much you love me." His other hand slipped down, boldly cupping my ass, and I shot him a murderous glare, which he ignored, grinning like an idiot. Is he for real? I will murder him.
