The morning sun cast a warm, golden glow into my room, something that gave me comfort after the dark and unsettling dream that had haunted me the night before.
I watched as the sunlight danced across the walls, feeling a sense of relief that the night was over.
As I got out of bed, I glanced over at the small figure resting on my nightstand. Alfie had spent the night there, her tiny wings neatly folded as she slept on a make shift bed I had made out of soft items I had around my room. Alfie looked fragile, but I knew better than to underestimate her resilience.
I made my way down stairs to the kitchen, Mom wasn't awake yet. I don't think, so I quickly grabbed a water bottle and a slice of bread before making it back to my room.
Once back, Carefully, I reached for a small thimble I randomly had from me attempting to sew one of my articles of clothing and poured in some water, then a small torn piece of bread, placing them next to Alfie.
She stirred awake, blinking her large eyes sleepily before offering me a weak smile before grumbling. "Morning, [y/n]."
"Morning, Alfie," I replied, relieved to see her awake and seemingly unharmed. "How are you feeling?"
She stretched her tiny limbs and flexed her wings. "Better, That was a close call."
I nodded, recalling the terrifying events of the night. "We need to figure out what's going on. Who were you talking about, how did he follow me from the dream?"
Alfie's expression grew somber as she perched on the edge of the nightstand. Nibbling on a small bit of bread.
"It's complicated, but I think it has something to do with your unique connection to the dream realm."
At Alfies words only one thing came to mind and so I fired up my computer and began searching for any information related to dreams being realistic and the enigmatic Slender Man.
As we combed through forums, articles, and even obscure websites, hoping to find answers, it seemed there was no luck to any answer.
Hours had passed as we delved deeper into the virtual world of information. It was during one such search that Alfie let out a small gasp.
"Look at this, [y/n]."
I leaned closer to the screen, my eyes scanning the bottom of the webpage reading what she had found. It was a passage from an obscure folklore site, detailing the legend of the Slender Man.
"According to this," Alfie began, "the Slender Man is known to enter the dreams of his victims, He can hunt them down in their dreams and, if he chooses, in the waking world."
My heart sank as I continued to read the words. The Slender Man's ability to bridge the gap between dreams and reality was far more sinister than I could have imagined.
But there was something else on the webpage, a link to a document. I clicked on it, and my eyes widened as I read the cryptic text.
"Pages," I murmured, realizing the significance of the discovery. It explained the few I had found.
"There are pages dedicated to the Slender Man's lore. We need to find them, Alfie. They might hold the key to stopping him."
And with newfound determination, we decided that our next quest was to collect these pages, hoping that each one would bring us closer to understanding what was coming.
