Forced to be a pet

Part 12

I follow Oliver into the house and look around amazed. His house was so big and beautiful! I know his house looked big outside but inside it looked even bigger. He leads me to the living room then points at the couch.

"Sit down there while I get the stuff from the car and finish setting up your place in my room." He told me

I walk over to the couch and sit down. Oliver then grabs the remote. He turns on the tv to a random cartoon. I look at the tv. This one is a lot bigger and nicer than the small old broken tv at my old house. I think. I watch the cartoon as Oliver goes to the car to get the bags of stuff from the store. After about thirty minutes or so he walks into the room.

"Follow me Tai." He hold out his hand for me.

I take his hand and get up. He then leads me to a big room. I looked around. I immediately noticed a fenced in area in the corner of the room. Oliver lead me over to the fenced area. He opened the gate then looked at me.

"This is your area of the bedroom." He says. "When I'm gone for short amounts of time or your in trouble and need a minute to cool down you'll stay here."

"Ok." I say as I look around.

"You can also come in here whenever you want." He tells me.

I nod and walk around the area. In the corner of the fenced area is the dog bed Oliver got me at the store. I see a small chest next to it. I open it and see the clothes he got for me. I see another chest against the wall. I walk over to it. I open it to see the toys he got me. I smile then walk back over to Oliver.

"Do you like it?" He asks.

"Yes." I say with a smile.

"I'm glad." He says as he picks me up.

I giggle and hold onto him. He walks downstairs to the kitchen. He sets me down in a chair then starts to make something.

"What are you making?" I ask.

"I'm making spaghetti." He says without looking at me.

I smile and wait for him to finish. A little bit later he sets a plate in front of me. I wait for him to tell me I can eat like Alex taught me. He smiles and pets me.

"Good boy! You can eat now." He tells me.

I start to eat with a smile on my face. It was so good! I finished eating all of it within a few minutes. When I was done Oliver took my plate and put it in the sink. He looks at me.

"Want to go on a walk?" He asks me.

"Yes!" I say with a smile.

"Ok go wait at the door while I get your leash." Oliver tells me.

I get up and walk to the door. A few minutes later Oliver walks over with the leash. He clips it to my collar then opens the door. He walks out of the house. I look around to see that the sun is setting. It was beautiful! He starts to walk down the sidewalk. I look around to see a few other people walking around. Some with pets and some with no pets. I was so distracted looking around that I didn't notice Oliver had stopped walking. I ended up bumping into him.

"S-sorry." I say as I rub my head.

"It's ok little one." He says as he starts to pet me. "I'd like you to me one of my friends."

I look in front of us to see a man a little taller than Oliver. Behind him I see a smaller boy on a leash like me.

"This is my friend Henry and his pet Levi." He tells me.

I look at Levi and wave. He looks at me with a bright smile.

"Hi!" He says excitedly.

"Hello." I say with a little smile

"What's your name?!" He asks me.

"I'm Tai." I tell him.

"That's a cool name! So how long have you been with your owner?" He asks.

"Oh uh he got me today." I say.

"I've been with mine since I was ten!" He says smiling.

"What? How?" I ask a little shocked. "The youngest you can be taken is when your twelve."

"Oh! I was born here! My owner got me from a local pet shop." He explains. "When your born in a shop your allowed to be bought at ten."

I nod. I knew that some pets were born here because I heard some of my old neighbors take about it. I think they called them domestic pets. They said it was kinda sad caz the domestic pets will never know what it's like to have the freedom to make their own decisions for at least a little bit of their lives.

"So you've been here your entire life? You weren't taken from a town?" I ask.

"Yeah my mother's owners didn't want to take care of a baby so they sold me to a pet shop." He tells me.

"Oh ok." I say.

"How old are you?" He asks. "I just turned sixteen yesterday!"

"Oh I'm sixteen too" I tell him.

"Really!? That's so cool!!" He says excitedly. "Maybe our owners would let us have play dates!"

"Yeah." I say with a little smile.

Just then I feel a little tug at my leash and look to see Oliver turned around ready to walk back home.

"Come on Tai let's get home." He says.

I follow him as he starts to walk home. When we get back to the house we get ready for bed. He lays down on his bed and pats the spot next to him.

"Lay down with me Tai." He tells me.

I lay down next to him. He wraps one of his arms around me and holds me close. I cuddle into him while I slowly fall asleep smiling.
